-Resin(gnate) to adventure-

If mihoyo's greed is behind the game's poor balance, then resin is behind to the game's fatal design. Why is it fatal? Because there's no reason to play the game. Nope. Zero. And resin is the motivator.

If you're just playing because you like the story, you don't need to use even your free rolls. The characters you're given for free are more than cappable to deal with any encounter (including boreas, because I like to mess with a wolf god! Smh! UMU!). You don't need the extra firepower from having specific characters and combinations, because you also don't need to raise your world level. Not to the point you would need a massive character upgrade anyway.

If you're in because, well, it's a gacha game, so it's the characters, you don't need to roll. The costs of obtaining constellations is way too high. It's true even if you're a so-called whale able to get any constellation at will because, you're just not gated by money in life. Are you, really going to do that? Give MIhoyo money? Even though they don't care they sold you a broken toy? Yes, I'm referring to the zhong li scenario here. At that point there's no reason to drop more money on the game, because there's no way to trust mihoyo won't break the next one. Or what you already have.

If you're playing becuase you just want to prepare ahead (this is my scenario, waiting for Inazuma be like 11 but it's a Captain tsubasa soccer field instead), you know the drill by now. Do comissions - every day it takes less, and the defense/scort one is always a pain -, spend resin into a completely arbitrary feature, and done. You want to spend more time in the game but, for the effort it takes, it's just not worth it. The game feels as if it hates you for playing it. This is the AR40+ experience. You want to play the game, you've farmed every material you need for ascension (character and weapon), ypu literally do not need any monster material, specially slime drops because slime are everywhere, and you've located the specific places where your character-specific ascencin materials respawn, and you'll be back there... in three days, when they respawn. Nothing meanwhile.

Nothing meanwhile. And it's all because of how resin works. Am I about to finally beat a dead horse? Yes, yes I am. It's not awful, but it's implemented to?be?awful*. Weekly bosses, on top of being timegated, require 60 resin, so you're spending a day and a half's worth of resin into gathering to loot from the three weekly bosses now available. Those are two days doomed to last a pittance of time. Likely sunday, since that's when domains are guaranteed to have shitty drops. But that means saturday also goes off. Actually, didn't you need to farm a certain drop from Cecilia Garden on Wednesdays and Saturdays? Well, there goes whatever the hell you wanted to do. What if you actually want ascencion materials for your character? No, worse. What if your build uses a Gladiator or Wanderer's set? Now you're fated to spend weeks, rolling for not even a chance. At 45, artifact domains are guaranteed to give you at least 1 5* artifact per run. But the bosses that cost almost double? They don't guarantee you to even drop the ascension materials! You get to roll 3, and these 3 can be anywhere from 3 tier 1, to 1 of each tier 1 through 3. Very rarely, a 5* ascension material. So rarely you've only seen one in 72 days of playtime.

These days you do open world bosses, not only you barely get any playtime, but you also get barely anything done.

But you could want to do domains. You need talent books. You need an entire new set of something, or you just need more artifacts to level what you have already, because hell if the artifact farming you've heard of serves of anything. After a certain point, not even a level. And you got five artifacts per character to feed. And of course you'll roll healing bonus or defense. But you also hate the possibility of having to repeat a run, so you'll bottle that resin so you only have to do 3 runs. So these days, you saw progress, but still was not enough time from the game.

Managing the resin you spend, that, I actuall find engaging. The problem is that there's no use thinking where you spend it. It's all a waste. You'll get 600 adventure exp from 120, and that's your actual progress, towards a higher world tier that hopefully will make obtaining loot less painful. You drop it at a weekly world boss, you have a pretty big chance of getting no good artifacts and not the talent material you need. You drop it at an open world boss, and you get three, 3 lovely 2* thingamajig stones that makes up the total of not even 1% of all you need for the last ascension rank


that's alongside nothing useful like a fifth 5* Gladiator's Hydro goblet in a row, I'm dying here to get a single pyro damage cup, it doesn't even need to be 5*, just wanderer's, it's the one thing Amber and Diluc have in common, a 4* instructor's pyro cup, and both of them got their own, it's a christmas miracle. Every pyro cup is a 4* instructor's. Tangent end.


and, if you spend it on domains, well, maybe in two to three days you'll beat the odds and get the last piece with the correct main stat and the correct four substats you want, which of course it's DEF%/Def+ Elemental mastery Crit Rate Crit DMG because you're rolling for a Retracing Bolide set for Noelle but you're only getting Archaic petra, and now you're considerin becoming a Traveler main. Hello yes Zhong Li you still there?

The second most important thing you get from resin at this point are artifacts, and the rates are just horrible. Already at AR50 there should be a greater assurance, a better chance at getting 5* at the very least from bossees (I'm talking guaranteed, guaranteed I'm saying), but the current drop rates would be nice if you didn't need resin.

Ley lines are use- actually, give me a second.?Mora?ley lines are useless. Experience leylines?have?an use. I found it very interesting how I suddenly had north of 2 million mora after I bought the first season pass. The ammount of exp tomes is not enough to get a character to max level. But you know what is it enough for? Enough for not having resource issues. You've seen these posts, about how it's impossible to level up or farm mora because of the pittance of a drop you get from mobs. It's because they took all that and put it behind a paywall! And well, you could also spend your resin in a leyline if it's not enough. Shame it's worthless. Mora is just there to act as an extra gate. There's not even enough reasons to spend it on things outside upgrading your characters and weapons. The one shop that sells gren artifacts in the game restocks once a week. That's 10000 mora. What a sink. Per week. Very sink. And because you have so much time ahead of yourself, you don't have to buy flowers either, or cooking materials or anything. No, what's truly devilish is that even if you spend resin in an experience leyline, you still need to spend more resin to ugprade your character or your weapon. You're loaded on the open world materials by now, you know where to go every three days, the only thing keeping you from upgrading is the domain-exclusive material that requires 20 resin per try, so that's a day you spend 40 minutes maximum playing. Oh, and your adventure rank. It becomes a game of waiting for whenever that happens. Hopefully the next event that will consume your resin instead of a domain will actually be good.

Now, I know that I have more mora than I can spend, but if you're f2p, i'm sure you're?absolutely loving?how?every single thing in the game?requires it. Sarcastic love, my favourite. Ascending materials? Requires mora. Crafting weapon upgrade materials? Requires mora. Upgrading talents? Characters? weapons? Ascension? The larger costs, I get it, but the smaller ones that come from practically destroying your ascension materials because the higher rarity ones wont drop, these shouldn't exist. It's only there to convince you to get a welkin pass so you can spend these 300 not-protogem into a resource bag, while teasing you to spend a little more because now you get 150/160 protogems a day.

But the worst for me, is condensed resin. It's such a massive Quality of Life. The one thing that balances resin... and it had to be limited to 3. You can't even bottle a resin cap. These grinds, artifact, ascensin materials, domains, leyines, whatever needs to be but it's bound to require resin, they suck because you have to do them daily, so you're exposed to shitty RNG on a daily basis. if you could, instead, bottle your resin, use it on every activity that requires it, with no cap, you could spend an entire week just bottling it and doing just comissions, then the one day spend it all. And that one day, you'll be playing all the hours you ask of the game. It's that's simple.

Oh and fragile resin should give you a full recharge,?wtf?is that nonsense of only giving 60. The same with protogem refills.

I opened the thread talking about talent upgrades. I was curious if it was going to be a mad grind, or a reasonable one with extra effort. Not sure what was i expecting. I mean, I get a pass since Amber - the way I play her - only needs to care about the basic attacks talent, but that's still a whooping 12 gold, freedom talent books which I also need for sucrose, and unlike amber Sucrose needs all of her talents leveled up. Oh and two Dvalin's visinons, I need that for amber too. Which by the way, that's the only thing keeping me from upgrading Chongyun's talents. The reason I rushed to do Stormterror as soon as I hit 50 was to confirm they drop two items now instead of one, and I can confirm I got 0 divalin's sight this week too. Imagine if these bosses didnt' cost resin so I could do three runs at freedom talent books instead.

-Conclusion and final thoughts?-

I've been writing this for over 3 hours, and I'm sure I forgot something. The reactions system is cool, but it's so imbalanced. You got Electro and Anemo reactions which parallel eachother by interacting with other elements, but then you have Pyro and Hydro doing more damge off eachother, but only Pyro gets the joy of doing damage. No, that's not ok. Pyro Hydro and Cryo should be forming a trinity and all three elements should be equally valid for raw damage.Freezing into shatter? That shatter damage should be a guaranteed critical, in my oppinion. Then you have Geo and Dendro as support, or raw DPS oriented elements (damage not reliant on reactions).

I say this because, well, it doesnt really look like mihoyo cares about constructive criticism, but if anybody out there is wondering what would I do, well,

THIS IS WHAT I WOULD DO.

  1. Enemy Encounters, Weekly Bosses: Add a weakspot to Boreas and Childe's head. Increase Stormterror's health by 50% on all difficulties but turn the purple spike into a weakspot. Oh and also make so he turns the neck around so you don't have to cllimb it. This is about making sense.

  2. Enemy Encounters, Open World Bosses: Add a flag so Oceanid can't summon bomb monsters(big birb and toad) during two-spawn phases, and so it doesn't repeat spawns back to back (Hello I see you've been having fun with squirrels and crows, so here are more squirrels and crows! Yeah!)

  3. Constellations, Weapon Refine, upgrading: Add a token item that can be used for either characters or weapons, rewarded as part of a weekly repeatable activity that costs?no stamina. It's a full month to refine a weapon this way to 5, and it makes me feel like pulling a 5* isn't a waste.

  4. Constellations, effects: rebalance available constellation effects to move all mechanics to core gameplay (so-called C0), and replace them with passive stat bonuses (not greater than 15%). Talent constellation effects are the same.

  5. Constellations, Zhong Li: Three spears off the bat. On top of behaving the way they already do, they do AoE Geo damage when destroyed with Hold E.

  6. Zhong Li, Hold E: Hold E now desroys geo constructs, dealing AoE geo damage each. The shield duration and power scales off the number of geo constructs destroyed. Petrified enemies are considered geo constructs, and even if not killed, still recieve AoE geo damage as a normal construct. Petrified enemies count towards Hold E's shield duration and power scaling.

  7. Rewards, Open World: Move all reward scaling one world level down.

  8. Rewards, Battle Pass: Move all Exp/Mora paid rewards to the free rewards. Populate paid rewards with shop tokens (the tokens you get from gacha pulls).

  9. Gacha: 5* pity reduced in half, first 5* on banner guaranteed to be the promoted 5* item. When triggering a 4* pity, allow to choose a reward of one of the promoted 4* items. On character banners, remove from the pool characters that have been "maxed" (player has all constellations).

  10. I have to stop here. I really have. I've been workign at this fr too long. It's almost 4 AM. But you get the idea.

I, really wanted to talk about everything wrong with this game. Cheesh it's so much I can't fit it in a reddit post.
