Some people say that the main aim of advertising is to improve the sales of products that?people do not really need.?
To what extent do you agree or disagree with the statement?

The debate of advertisements has been ages. ?In terms of the two opposite statements on its function, I tend to have a mixed opinion, meaning there are both merits and demerits.
?
1 Admittedly , there has been a constant bombardment of advertisements.
2 Be it online media or traditional media, we are unavoidably exposed to such excessive information , most of which either stimulate our impulsive consumption or fuel our anxiety.
3 This is because we are living in a consumerism culture where mass production and consumption are dominant features.
4 Namely, enterprises are trying to label their products with a sense of happiness, achievement or superiority just for sake of promoting their sales, in turn leaving consumers susceptible to irrational shopping with things they don’t actually need.
5 People complain ubiquitous advertisements affect their ability to navigate useful information.

1 Nonetheless, on the other side of the argument, advertisements are informative and entertaining.
2 If there were no such information, we wouldn't know which brand is trustworthy.
3In other words, we will have less access to various products choices.
4 Additionally, some advertisements are arts.
5 When watching them, we don't feel they are persuading us to buy things ,instead we are engaged in the subtle plot.
6When watching advertisements from Nike, we can not help being motivated by the stoicism their brand ambassadors exhibit.
7In this sense, advertisements are an indispensable impetus in business, and consumers can enjoy in an aesthetic way.

In closing, a world without advertisements is impossible, however a healthy media environment is achievable.
The point is to be rational consumers and harmful advertisements should be controlled ?and even banned.
