[成龍歷險記|西玉|全英]天行不息 13 The Road to Ordinary

The five finished their summer vacation journey and flew back to San Francisco.
“After we go back, you live in Uncle’s Rare Finds then, Hsi Wu,” said Jackie.
“Aiiee-yaahh! Ever since Tohru came to Uncle, there have been no more rooms left in the Rare Finds.
“Uncle Jackie, I wouldn’t wanna get you into trouble. Maybe I can live outside and I even needn’t sleep, as long as I can go to school with Jade.” Hsi Wu said, smiling.
“Uncle Jackie, I think it’ll be better to leave him a place. No room left but we can add a bed,” said Jade.
“Good idea. Then add the bed in…”
“Humph! Uncle won’t live with a demon.”
“I am too big so there’s no space left in my room.”
“Uncle Jackie, maybe we can…”
“Jackie, let me sleep on the sofa.” Hsi Wu interrupted Jade’s words.
“I think that’s perfect!” Uncle giggled while Jade seemed to be a little lost.
?
“Seymour, why did you interrupt me?” When the plane landed in the midway city, Jade said to Hsi Wu alone.
“Jade, it’s indeed improper for me to live in a little girl’s room. Not to mention that although Uncle accepted me ostensibly, I can perceive he’s somewhat guarded against me.”
“You…you didn’t think wrongly, did you? I only want a friend by my side.” Jade was slightly angry and embarrassed.
“Don’t misunderstand. It’s not what I mean.” Hsi Wu hurriedly supplemented. “So, it doesn’t matter. We go to school together and live under the same roof, nothing is inconvenient. Not to mention that the real friends are judged not by their physical distance but the distance of hearts.”
“Hm… Indeed.” Jade said.
?
The five got to the Rare Finds. Hsi Wu stopped in front of the door, thinking of the experiences that he entered the Rare Finds. For the first time, he failed to take his tail. For the second time, he was injured by the flute and was turned into the statue by Uncle for the third time. Having been tripped by obstacles three times, he was finally able to enter it fair and square. This was also a kind of harvesting fruit, Hsi Wu thought.
“Come in, Hsi Wu. This time there’s no Chi powder keeping demons from entering,” said Jackie Chan.
Hsi Wu paced in the shop, looking closely at Uncle’s antiques. He had not got the chance to look at them carefully for the hurriedness of the former three times.
“Uncle, your collections are not bad! You even have Chinese artifacts from my era.”
“Thwack!” A two-fingered slapping on Hsi Wu’s head.
“Now you know these are all treasures? Do you know how many antiques your tail broke when it ran around here at that time!”
“Uncle, it’s your method to catch the tail that sucked.”
“Indeed, the tail was so obedient in my and Uncle’s hands and swung fiercely in Jackie and Tohru’s hands,” said Jade.
“You see, the tail only listens to the one whose heart connects with me.” Hsi Wu said, smiling.
“Humph! Uncle’s heart has no connection with demons!”
“Uncle, this is because you are a wizard who makes the tail afraid. To be honest, I am afraid of you, too.” Hsi Wu could just say.
?
Everyone was busy doing their part. Jackie, Tohru, and Hsi Wu were cleaning the room, Uncle was sipping tea and reading the newspaper with a magnifier while Jade was playing computer games on the laptop Hsi Wu bought in China.
Hsi Wu mopped the floor and came near Jade, looking at the computer.
“Wow! Cool!” Due to the several-thousand-year sealing, Hsi Wu had not seen computer games before.
“Wanna play it? Let me teach you!”
His Wu put the mop aside and sat with Jade in front of the computer. Had to say Hsi Wu was not only clever but could also quickly master novel things as most teenagers did. He soon got in command of the rules and intensely gamed with Jade.
“Aiiee-yaahh! Uncle heard the gaming sound, feeling irritable, walking out of his study.”
“You dare rest sneakily when the work hasn’t yet been done!” Uncle pointed at Hsi Wu with the mop.
“Be quick! Jade! Kill him! Kill him!” Hsi Wu was referring to a monster in the game.
“You dare ignore Uncle!” Uncle came near to the screen.
“Aiiee-yaahh! Evil!” Uncle hit the laptop fiercely with the wet mop.
“Don not, Uncle! That’s not evil, that’s only a character in the game!”
But it was too late, the laptop had been destroyed by Uncle.
?
“Alas, Uncle is only in his sixties and you have been thousands of years old. Why can’t he catch up with you in terms of accepting novel things?” Jade said after Uncle went back to his study.
“As I said, I was still a teenager when becoming a demon so my mindset had been fixed then. Just think about the positive side. Though the game is so nice, I feel it’s addicting. I, the guy of thousands of years old, even can’t control the temptation, not to mention you,” said Hsi Wu.
“It’s a pity the computer,” said Jade.
?
Jackie, Uncle, and, Tohru all got out and Jade and Hsi Wu were doing their summer vacation homework.
Hsi Wu put down his pen, looking at the mirror hung on the wall, dazing.
“What’s up, Seymour? Can’t solve this question? Let me teach you,” Jade said.
“I study better than you. The mirror just reminds me of my brothers and sisters.”
“You mean Shendu and others?”
“Yeah, we can communicate through the mirror. After all, we practiced magic and were sealed for so many years, together through thick and thin. I wanna have a look at them. Maybe you can avoid it for a while, Jade? Needn’t leave, just letting them unable to see you.”
“Okay.”
Hsi Wu turned into the demon form, but the room was so narrow that the antiques were to be broken by him. Jade hurriedly caught the four falling antiques, two with her hands, one with the right foot, and one on the head.
“You’d better turn back to a human.”
“But it may be not proper to turn into a complete human.” Hsi Wu turned into the human form with a pair of wings.
“The same sound to echo, the same Chi to seek.” Hsi Wu recited the spell in front of the mirror. The scenery of the netherworld emerged in it and immediately after, a translucent dragon appeared.
“Dear brother Wu, it’s you! I inform our siblings to have a meeting now.”? Shendu spoke politely for he had been owing to other demons before. However, when he saw Hsi Wu’s appearance and the background furnishings, Shendu seemed to understand something.
In the mirror, the demons came to the meeting in their respective ways.
“Hsi Wu, you have fled the netherworld for so long and haven’t contacted us until now! We should appreciate that you didn’t forget us?” Tso Lan said.
“Why are you in the form of a human?” Bai Tza said.
“Looks tasty,” saliva flew out of Po Kong’s mouth.
“Brothers and sisters, I am busy recently! The dark Chi wizard Daolon Wong had hardly revised the Book of Ages to turn us all into his slaves when I went to stop him.”
“Then why didn’t you revise the Book of Ages yourself and release us all?” Dai Gui said.
“I…I broke the token of opening the book to prevent Daolon Wong.”
“Hsi Wu, you betrayed us, didn’t you? You have to explain why you are in the form of a human and where are you now?” Tchang Zu said.
“Siblings, to tell the truth, Brother Wu was in Uncle’s Rare Finds,” Shendu revealed Hsi Wu, though still in a polite manner.
“The old Chi wizard?” Bai Tza said.
“You cooperate with humans! What a betrayal!” Tchang Zu said.
“Not only a betrayal but also the shame of demons!” Tso Lan said.
Hearing these, Hsi Wu gritted teeth, whose eyes turned into blood-red.
“Enough! It’s you that are the shame of demons!” Hsi Wu stretched out his arm, pointing at the mirror, shouting.
“Haven’t you thought about why we lost our freedom for thousands of years? Why did we be prisoned back after we were released last time? Considering your mindset of not taking humans seriously, and your desire to rule the world, you will not stay in the world for more than one day even if I could release you out!”
“My god! He is crazy!” Xiaofung said.
“He has been brainwashed by humans.” Bai Tza said.
“If we have the chance, we will have you bear eternal pain with the punishment stricter than Shendu!” Tso Lan said.
“Hsi Wu, hope you stand by our side.” Shendu still pretended to be polite.
“Hsi Wu, your betrayal is worse than Shendu. At least, Shendu didn’t forget to rule the world, but you dare gang up with humans!” Tso Lan taught Shendu a lesson by the way.
“Brothers and sisters, no matter how angry you are, remember it’s I who am free.” Hsi Wu calmed a little, speaking peacefully.
“I tell you that if you have the road to get out of the netherworld, it must be the road to ordinary. Goodbye!” Hsi Wu closed the mirror and folded his wings.
?
“All right?” Jade came to Hsi Wu’s side, putting a hand on Hsi Wu’s shoulder.
“It doesn’t matter. They are in the netherworld so can’t exert influence on me. But seeing them, I see myself three months ago.”
“Maybe they will understand it someday.”
“Never mind, I won’t think about them anymore. It’ll be best that I am free.”
“Seymore, I wonder one thing. Every demon has its exclusive ability. Shendu can make fire, Tchang Zu can call lightning, Xiao Fung can blow wind, and you can control the weather. Then haven’t you included the power of Tchang Zu, Xiao Fung, and a bit of Bai Tza?”
“Not exactly. I can’t exceed the limitation of natural weather. For example, I can’t call lightning where lightning is impossible to happen all year round. Tchang Zu, Xiao Fung, and Bai Tza can ignore the restriction.”
“Then…you are so weak!” Jade laughed, with hands on her belly.
A dark cloud was on Hsi Wu’s face.
“Jade, it isn’t weak at all. Take a simple instance. whichever country I wanna sanction, I just prevent any rain from dropping or keep the temperature of winter every day. Isn’t this far more effective than any other sanctions?”
“Right,” said Jade.
Jade and Hsi Wu began to do their homework again. However, Jade was absent-minded. Seeing Hsi Wu was a little afraid of Uncle, Jade was nearly prepared to tell Hsi Wu of the fact that the petrification magic was out of use. But hearing Hsi Wu’s words today, she sensed the power of demons. Even the so-called weakest Hsi Wu could rule the world so easily. Maybe she could only hide this matter deep in her heart.
Jade thought a lot. What should she do when she matured but Hsi Wu would still be in the mindset of a teenager? What should Hsi Wu do after she died, who only had a finite lifespan? However, accompanied happily by Hsi Wu, Jade gradually forgot all of these not too long after and enjoyed the summer vacation left.
However, the summer vacation was always too short. The term which would bring Jade a headache was going to begin.
“Alas, after all, I have Hsi Wu. Otherwise, how could I get through all of these terms!” Jade thought.
