What time is it 說課稿
Good morning/ afternoon, dear judges! I'm very glad to be here to present my class today. I'm number X candidate applying for the English teacher of the primary school. And my topic today is Unit 8 “Time”. To get a better understanding of my instructional designing, I'm going to divide it into 6 sections, that is, the analysis of teaching materials, analysis of students, teaching methods, learning methods, teaching procedures and blackboard design. Now I am going to present them one by one.
Part One: Analysis of the Teaching Material
The first and foremost is the analysis of the teaching materials. Today's lesson is from Lesson 1 Unit 8 book 6. Its main theme is time, which is a common topic among students. Actually they all have had such experiences to use language to ask and answer time, so this lesson will be quite useful to students' daily life.
According to the analysis of teaching material, I set up three teaching aims: knowledge aims, ability aims and moral aims.
Knowledge aim, Ss are able to master new words & phrases:time, o’clock, late, early during the process of understanding the story. Meanwhile, master the sentence pattern “What time is it...? ;It's ... o'clock; It's time for...to ask and answer time.
?? Ability aims, Ss can talk about time by using the useful expressions in a real situation. Besides, Ss can retell the story with the help of pictures and key words.
At last moves to moral aims, moral aims of this lesson will be focused on fostering Ss' awareness of arranging time properly.
Based on aims, the teaching key points and difficult points are as follows.
Teaching key points:How to help the Ss to master new words:time, o’clock, early, late.. In addition, how to help Ss to use the sentence pattern “What time is it...? ;It's ... o'clock; It's time for...”? in their daily life.
Teaching difficult point is How to foster Ss' awareness of treasuring time.
Part Two: Analysis of the students
OK, let's turn to the analysis of students. Students of Grade 4 have studied English for almost 3 years and grasped a certain amount of English knowledge. They are eager to show, eager to learn. They can cooperate with their classmates to finish a task. On the other hand, students' ability of using English is limited; their abstract thinking is not fully developed and they can be easily distracted. Therefore, all of these shall be taken into consideration into today's teaching.
Part Three: The Teaching Methods
According to the analysis of teaching materials and students, I'm going to arrange my lesson by mainly using the Task-based Method and the Communicative teaching approach.
Part Four: The Learning Methods
The learning Methods of this lesson will be focused on cooperative and researched methods. Students will finish a series of activities to understand the story and learn the language points.
Teaching Aids
During the teaching process, recorder, pictures and computer will be needed.
Part Five: Teaching Procedures
OK, so much for the teaching and learning methods. And the next one is the most important part of today, the teaching procedures, which will be demonstrated in the following steps:
Step 1. Warming up &Leading-in
? ?Sing a song Ten little Candles/Ten little Indians for warming up.
I will lead in the topic step by step:
Firstly, play a number game to review numbers.
Secondly, show picture of a clock and ask the following question:
T: What's this?? Ss: .....
T: What time is it? Ss: .....
Do just like this: (表演)
? Good morning/afternoon, boys and girls, how are you today? Great! Great! Great! I am great, too. Thanks for your asking. Are you ready for our English travel? Nice, let's sing a song Ten little Indians. Wow, your voice are so beautiful. Now, let's play a number game, are you ready? Go. Yes, five, good. Six,? fine. Nine, great. you are so clever. Look at this picture, what's this? Yes, a clock. What time is it? ...
So, the topic can be naturally led in.
Step 2: Pre-reading
?Show the picture of the story, Ss listen to the tape with out watching the book. And then, tell the story briefly.
??? In this way, Ss' interests in reading the story can be aroused. Meanwhile, Ss' ability of listening and speaking can be applied. So, the communicative approach is well applied in this step.
Step 3 While reading
In order to help the Ss have a good understanding of the story, I set up the following activities:
Activity 1:Ss watch the video for the first time to find out the where do they go?/ What's the main idea of the story??
Activity 2: Read the story picture by picture and answer the following question. At the same time, teach the new words.
1. When do they go to Uncle Booky's house?
2. In the first picture, Mocky thought they are ______.
3. Look at the third picture, but Lulu thought they are _____.
Activity 3: Work in pairs, Ss practice the sentence pattern by ask and answer. Then play a game “What's missing” to practice new words.
Step 4 Post-reading
? First, Ss read the story following the tape.
??Second, Ss are divided into six groups to retell the story. They may retell the story with the help of pictures and key words. After that, each group come to the front to show their results. The most creative group can get extra points.????? ?????Tasked-based teaching method is used here to let students use the language they learned to do things and present results.
Step 5. Summary
Ss are encourage to summarize the language points, and I will give supplement timely. Then, I will stress the importance of arranging time reasonably.
This step aims to help Ss have a further understanding of today’s lesson and review the knowledge. I can check their learning results and direct them to know the importance of arranging time properly.
Step 6.Homework
Homework is important for the further development of students' language ability. So, Ss are encourage to talk about time with their friends or family members. They are supposed to share their finding next class.
Last but not the least, let’s talk my blackboard design, as you can see, I will show the topic of this lesson, the key words and sentence structure will also be shown to help the Ss have a clear understanding of this class.
?That’s all my presentation, thanks for listening.
