La tour la plus célèbre du monde est une survivante. Plusiers fois après son installation en 1889, on a sérieusement pensé à la démonter, on trouvait sa silhouette dans le ciel de la capitale dérangeante et dangereuse. Ce n’est qu’en 1910 qu’elle a acquis sa place permanente près de la Seine. En 1964, la tour Eiffel a finalement été déclarée monument historique national.

La grande Dame de fer est le fruit du travail de Gustave Eiffel et de ses deux partenaires ingénieur Nouguier et Koechlin. Construite en deux ans à l’occasion de l’Exposition Universelle de 1889, cette structure spectaculaire avait pour but d’illustrer l’essor industriel de la France, un siècle après la Révolution fran?aise. Avec ses 312 mètres (il n’y avait pas encore d’antenne) et ses 1665 marches qu’on pouvait monter à pied, le succès de cette merveille technologique était assuré. La tour est aujourd’hui l’une n’y prêtent pas beaucoup d’attention, mais près de 7 millions de visiteurs du monde entier viennent l’admirer chaque année. La tour est repainte tous les sept ans avec plus de 60 tonnes de peinture et, depuis quelques années, elle scintille de toutes ses lumières dans la nuit parisienne.

Several times after its installation in 1889, we seriously thought about dismantling it, we found its silhouette in the sky of the capital disturbing and dangerous. It was not until 1910 that it acquired its permanent place near the Seine. In 1964, the Eiffel Tower was finally declared a national historic monument.

The great Iron Lady is the fruit of the work of Gustave Eiffel and his two engineering partners Nouguier and Koechlin. With its 312 meters (there was no antenna yet) and its 1,665 steps that could be climbed on foot, the success of this technological marvel was assured. The tower is one that doesn't pay much attention to it today, but nearly 7 million visitors from all over the world come to admire it each year. The tower is repainted every seven years with more than 60 tons of paint and, for a few years, it sparkles with all its lights in the Parisian night.
