In Chinese mainland, the certificate of registered residence is the important proof for Chinese citizens to legally receive education, find jobs and get social security and housing allocation in a place. The household registration system of China helps/facilitates the government to manage local residents and flowing/mobile/floating population but doesn’t facilitate/promote the free movement of/for citizens. In addition, the system has caused/result in?the difference of citizenship between urban and rural areas, holding back the urbanization of China. People has always called for the reform of the system and the government is also gradually lifting/easing the restriction/limit on population mobility and closing/narrowing the urban-rural difference of the certificate of registered residence.
