冥想放松(可以看作是一種高級的打盹方式)。在NewAge風(fēng)行的今日,冥想成為New Agers實踐的一種重要方式,同時也產(chǎn)生了配合這種方式的音樂。在New Age音樂中就有很多的音樂就是專門為冥想活動而做的(有時是不太適合當(dāng)音樂來聽的)。這種音樂一般沒有明顯的節(jié)奏,音樂上表現(xiàn)地平滑、流暢,使聽者能夠放松身心,有時音樂家們也會借助一些自然的聲效來加強意境的渲染。
Arguably, all music can be said to be useful for Meditation. Generally speaking, the music is relaxing, lacking definitiverhythms. Meditation and music have been relational partners for centuries.Mellow, repetitive, and redundant sequences of smoothly contoured melodic lineshelp to relax the mind as arrhythmic tempos do not distract the listener into abeat but rather a flow. Harmonies are often absent unless one accepts themusical nuance of imitation as structured harmony. Meditation music can alsoinclude recordings of sounds in the "natural" world: rainfall,waterfalls, birds, insects, whales, and others, separately and in syntheticcombination.
