This terrace was the final consummation of the house’s plan; it stood on massive stone ramparts above the lakes, so that from the hall steps it seemed to overhang them, as though, standing by the balustrade, one could have dropped a pebble into the first of them immediately below one’s feet. It was embraced by the two arms of the colonnade; beyond the pavilions groves of lime led to the wooded hillsides. Part of the terrace was paved, part planted with flower-beds and arabesques of dwarf box; taller box grew in a dense hedge, making a wide oval. 這個陽臺讓房子的設(shè)計規(guī)劃達到最終的圓滿。它位于湖泊的上方,修筑在由大石頭砌成的城墻上,因此從走廊的臺階上看的話,陽臺像是在臺階的上方,似乎一個人要是站在欄桿旁邊,就可以立即扔一塊鵝卵石到第一級臺階上去,就在他的腳下。柱廊的雙臂環(huán)抱著陽臺,亭閣外面,椴樹林通向樹林繁茂的山坡。陽臺的一部分鋪過地面,一部分培育著花圃,幼苗就裝在花盆里,有一個阿拉伯式花飾的矮小花盆,此外還有一個高大一些的花盆在封閉的樹籬里,樹籬很密,圍成了一個寬大的橢圓形。
