Set in Jazz Age New York, this novel is narrated by Nick Carraway, a recent Yale graduate, who moves to New York and lives next door to Gatsby, an affluent man who lives a frivolous and extravagant lifestyle. 2.
? ? ? ?(1)In consequence,我inclined to對所有的人都保留判斷,這個習(xí)慣既使得許多怪僻的人肯跟我講心里話,也使我成為?the victim of not a few veteran bores.?
? ? ? 并且?attach itself to this quality.
? ? ? ?(5)他經(jīng)歷了漫長的道路才來到這片藍色的草坪上,他的夢一定似乎近在眼前,he could hardly fail to grasp it.
? ? ? ??"Whenever you feel like criticizing any one," he told me, "just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had."
? ? ? ??l???It is what preyed on Gatsby, what foul dust floated in the wake of his dreams that temporarily closed out my interest in the abortive sorrows and short-winded elations of men.
? ? ? ?l??So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
? ? ? ??“No—Gatsby turned out all right at the end; it is what preyed on Gatsby, what foul dust floated in the wake of his dreams that temporarily closed out my interest in the abortive sorrows and short-winded elations of men.”
? ? ? ??“Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter--tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther. . . And one fine morning—”
? ? ? ??The tragedy isn't in dreaming, it's in chasing an unworthy dream.
? ? ? ??"Whenever you feel like criticizing any one," he told me, "just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had."?
