what's the significance of your life?
The topic I want to talk about today is about the meaning of life. This is a very broad topic, it sounds like it is very empty, and there is no desire to talk about it.Actually, it can be fun to think about.
Not long ago, I saw a late-night message from a female friend on social media. She felt that her life seemed to be going in a circle every day, repeating it day after day, and she felt more and more hopeless and meaningless. I was a little surprised by her emotions, because she has a stable and considerable income, and a happy family. But obviously, she was not happy, as if something was missing in her life. So what is missing? I think there is a lack of initiative to want to participate, to want to eagerly affect lives.

Last month, I visited the Royal Ontario Museum. In the ancient Egyptian exhibition hall on the second floor, I saw a wide mural more than 3,700 years ago. It was painted on stone bricks with different pigments. It has been dusty for thousands of years, and the colors are still visible. I caressed the cool stone bricks with weathered and smooth edges, and felt the meaning given to them by time. I suddenly felt very magical, as if I was standing in the middle of two time and space, feeling the power of that kind of time-traveling collision, these Ordinary stone bricks are no longer ordinary, they have survived tenaciously for so many years, meeting tourists from all ages. At that moment, I felt very lucky to be standing in front of it.

In addition, I would like to share another?news reported by Chinese media a few years ago. A photographer?found a?clear fingerprint?on a pottery sculpture from the Qin Dynasty in China. It has been confirmed that these were accidentally left by craftsmen when making sculptures 2,200 years ago. It is said that the photographer who discovered the fingerprint was in tears due to emotions. He said that at that moment, as if breaking the barrier of time and space, he had a "dialogue" with the craftsman.
The above two examples gave me a deeper understanding of the word "existence". The "existence" we often say is the objective existence of our physical body, and it usually refers to the duration of life. Each of us hopes to live a long and healthy life, to live in this world as long as possible, to experience and enjoy the beauty of life. But the objective fact is that the longest-lived person in the world officially recognized so far only lived to be 146 years old; some irony is that after his youngest child died when he was 118 years old, he lost the ability to live. Meaning, and hope that the god of death can take him away.
Therefore, no matter from the objective or subjective aspect, the length of life is not the only meaning we are pursuing, we need to broaden the scope of life. Why did the stone bricks of ancient Egypt and the sculpture craftsmen of the Qin Dynasty still "exist" in the world after two or three thousand years, and be perceived by later generations? My answer is that it (they) left a memorable trace.
Who can you name who created traces of history? Jesus, Churchill, Newton, Columbus, Edison...they are all people who have had a profound impact on promoting human history, culture, and science. Most of us are enjoying the benefits of their contributions. They get our respect and adoration. But no matter in terms of opportunities, talents, hard work, and background of the times, most of us cannot become them, because we just want to be an ordinary person easily and spend this life in peace.
Next, we turn our perspective around ourselves and ask ourselves, what is the most important thing to you? After you find the answers, love them, influence them, improve them, and if you can, leave some good things behind. Cherish every day you are alive, actively participate in your life construction, experience the vastness of the world, explore different experiences, make people around you feel happy because of you, and let your living environment improve step by step because of your efforts... ...I think that's what most people have been exploring and pursuing for meaning. After understanding these, perhaps we can also look at death more calmly, because death is not the end of life, and we may be able to continue to "exist" with those people who are important to us and some good memories in their brains.
