I love Marcus smart, but I’d say he’s paid pretty fairly now, would have gotten more in free agency after this year but he took guaranteed, still-very-good money instead of taking the risk

Even without that DPOY he'd still be eligible for the 5/$215M, which is about twice his actual value.

Celtics got a bit of a discount, but that's usually the case on an early extension as the player gets to lock in the guaranteed money.
