I did not actually audition for the role of Barbie.

I produced the film. So I guessed I cast myself that i did make it very clear to Greta. Greta being our writer and director. She was always who i wamted to make about Barbie movie with. I said to her when she said: oh, come on board.

I don't have to be in the movie, you konw, very passionate about making it, as a producer. I don't have to play Barbie or be in the movie in any capacitiy. I am just happy to produce it.

And she said: no, i really want to write this for you. And she wrote me an amazing part. I very grateful. And then in the case of, ryan being our Ken. Kind of like the corresponding Ken to my stereotypical Barbie. She wrote him into script as well, always said, in the script, barbie margot, ken ryran gosiline. So, we manifest that into existence as well. And just pretty well wouldn't take no for an answer, we are like, Ryan, you have to come do it. It's on the page, you have to. But i' ve met him before and i knew that we got along. and i get a feeling just based on things i heard about him. And I love his work. I have loved his work for so long. I thought, I think we would work well together. And we did, it was great.

I really make two requests to grate,cause she asked, you know, just like,what do you, is there anything you want from the barbie movies, and i said, yes, two things, a slide goes from her bedroom to her poor, because that my dream in life and a mermaid Barbie. and she was like, really? anything else? and I said, no, just those two things, it is ok if they can't be there. But i'd be so happy. And of course we've got DL ,as our MB. And I certainly have a slide that goes from my bedroom down to the pool. It was so fun. literally, dreams coming ture. I wasn't actually a barbie fanatic as a child. I don't know actually if i owned a barbie. My cousin had barbies. And barbies just were omnipresent throughout my childhood, because ,you know, she is everywhere. This isn't something i was really that focus on or obsessed with. I don't remember ever like opening a chrismas present, that was a barbie. But i do remember opening a christmas present when i was five year old, the barbie foldout house, which i was obsessed with, just the construction of it. And i think i'd being, inspired to world buiding ever since. Clearly started at a young age.
