前面說過，早在1999年，星河公司在四川省“秸稈綜合利用”投標(biāo)時以第一名的成績中標(biāo)后，由于國內(nèi)外媒體鋪天蓋地的宣傳，使周興和與他的專利技術(shù)迅速走紅，成為當(dāng)時新聞聚焦的熱點(diǎn)。當(dāng)時，除了國內(nèi)，一些國外的政府、企業(yè)也紛紛向該項技術(shù)拋來媚眼。其中，非洲埃及是第一家。

埃及也是傳統(tǒng)的農(nóng)業(yè)國家。農(nóng)業(yè)的生產(chǎn)，同樣產(chǎn)生大量的稻草、麥草、秸稈等廢棄物，由于他們也沒有更好的處理方式，那里的農(nóng)民也和我國廣大農(nóng)村地區(qū)一樣，采取焚燒還田的處理方法。由此那里也和成都平原一樣，造成嚴(yán)重的空氣污染，一些城市的飛機(jī)升降也受到嚴(yán)重影響。于是，埃及政府希望從中國引進(jìn)這項成熟的技術(shù)，對本國的稻草、麥草、秸稈等進(jìn)行綜合利用。從2001年春起，埃及政府就邀請星河公司赴埃及進(jìn)行技術(shù)及產(chǎn)品演示。經(jīng)過現(xiàn)場演示，周興和發(fā)明的變廢為寶、處理秸稈的專利技術(shù)，在埃及國內(nèi)引起轟動，穆巴拉克總統(tǒng)曾專門為引進(jìn)中國秸稈處理技術(shù)作了批示。在此基礎(chǔ)上，經(jīng)反復(fù)對比和洽談，埃及環(huán)境部于2002年12月與星河建材公司簽訂了合作協(xié)議，擬以1200萬美元的代價從該公司引進(jìn)技術(shù)及相關(guān)設(shè)備，并計劃３年內(nèi)在埃及建成９個“成都造”秸稈輕體隔墻板生產(chǎn)基地。

After the live demonstration, Zhou Xinghe invented patented technology of turning the waste into treasure and treatment of straws, caused a sensation in Egypt. President Mubarak once made instructions for the introduction of Chinese straw treatment technology. On this basis, after repeated comparison and negotiation, the Egyptian Ministry of Environment signed a cooperation agreement with Xinghe Building Materials Company in December of 2002, proposing to introduce the technology and related equipment from Xinghe Company at the cost of 12 million US dollars, and planning to build 9 straw lightweight partition board production bases "made in Chengdu" in Egypt within 3 years.

但合同簽訂后，由于埃及國內(nèi)政壇各派政見紛爭、政局不穩(wěn)以及經(jīng)濟(jì)等原因，這個合作項目被他們拖延下來?！鞍＜罢恢v信用?！敝芘d和這時還缺乏對他國國情的深入了解，缺乏國際經(jīng)濟(jì)合作的經(jīng)驗(yàn)，時間一長，他少了一些耐心。一氣之下，他給穆巴拉克總統(tǒng)寫了一封信，信中不乏透出了心里的怨氣——雖然最終他們還是與埃及進(jìn)行了有效的合作，但那是幾年以后的事了。

與此同時，2001年初，美國七星集團(tuán)副總裁戴爾在仔細(xì)調(diào)研了星河公司的專利技術(shù)和產(chǎn)品后，也曾專程來到成都，找到時任黃忠街辦書記鐘培松。他對鐘培松說，七星集團(tuán)愿意出1億元人民幣，與星河公司進(jìn)行合作，條件是周興和及他的團(tuán)隊必須到美國去發(fā)展。

這個條件太苛刻了，這樣一來，你美國人不是把這項技術(shù)壟斷了么！我們自己國內(nèi)還有那么多窮人買不起房子，還有那么多農(nóng)民住著草棚窯洞，還有那么多游牧牧民常年居無定所，中國人發(fā)明的技術(shù)，首先應(yīng)該造福中國人民呀！基于這種簡單而樸實(shí)的想法，戴爾這一提議當(dāng)即被鐘培松和周興和拒絕了。同樣還是基于這樣的想法，后來他們在與加拿大政府合作談判的過程中，參加談判的政府代表表示：只要周先生帶領(lǐng)你的團(tuán)隊到我們加拿大來發(fā)展，40天之內(nèi)，我們可以免費(fèi)為你的全部人員辦妥移民手續(xù)。

This condition was too harsh, so the Americans shall monopolize this technology! In our own country, there were still so many poor people who could not afford to buy houses, so many farmers who lived in the grass huts and caves, and so many nomadic herdsmen who lived in unstable places all the year round. The technology invented by the Chinese should benefit the Chinese people first of all. Based on this simple and unpretentious idea, Dell's proposal was immediately rejected by Zhong and Zhou. Also based on this idea, in the process of cooperation and negotiation with the Canadian government, the government representative participating in the negotiation said: as long as Mr. Zhou lead your team to Canada for development, we can complete the immigration procedures for all of your staff free of charge within 40 days.

就在不久前，泰國一家企業(yè)來到成都，表達(dá)了要購買星河公司技術(shù)及設(shè)備意愿，雙方已初步達(dá)成了400萬美元金額的合同。同時，菲律賓、馬來西亞、柬埔寨等一些國家政府聞訊也發(fā)來函電，表示將同星河公司洽談合作事宜。

是呀是呀，科學(xué)技術(shù)無國界，這個世界天地大得很吶！我周興和眼界怎么如此狹隘呢？說大點(diǎn)，我們中國人真應(yīng)該有點(diǎn)“胸懷全球，放眼世界”的胸懷呀！只要能為人類特別是天下的窮人造福，只要能有利于地球生態(tài)環(huán)境的保護(hù)，還分什么國界分什么種族呢？只要是為人做好事，就應(yīng)該不遺余力去做呀！說小點(diǎn)，只要自己的專利技術(shù)能夠得到推廣，只要能為國家賺回外匯，只要自己公司能在有效運(yùn)轉(zhuǎn)的基礎(chǔ)上得到發(fā)展，只要同甘共苦跟自己干了多年的弟兄們能有碗飯吃，就應(yīng)該該到海外去闖蕩一番呀——真是天無絕人之路！在重慶江津四面山中的石崖上，有位叫舒德騎的先生一副對聯(lián)撰得好：山重水復(fù)孕育柳暗花明，層巒疊嶂預(yù)示峰回路轉(zhuǎn)——罷罷罷，此處不留爺，自有留爺處！
