Packaging transportation performance testing is usually a combination of various testing items. It simulates the actual transport process in order to find out the effects caused by actual transport hazards like vibration, compression, impact, temperature and humidity. The protective performance of the packaging can be evaluated after this testing.?

The International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) is an organization specializing in transport packaging. ISTA testing procedures define how package functions to protect contents. ISTA testing procedures help reduce risks involved in transport and increase confidence of safe delivery of packaging goods. ISTA took lead in proposing packaging performance testing and certification 60 years ago. Today their testing procedures and certification program are at the forefront of transport packaging. ISTA members include shippers who manufacture and deliver goods, carriers who provide distribution means, vendors who provide packaging materials and services, and laboratories that test the performance of packaged products.
