Jill:請用。

Jill: Here.

?

Betty: Now, drink.

?

Deal:……

Deal: ...

?

Deal:

Deal: Nf...

?

Betty: Oh, man up. You'll get used to it.

Jill:

Jill: Here you go.

?

Deal:

Deal: Okay, then...

?

Betty:

Betty: No, you get this one and I'll have the softer one.

?

Deal:*

Deal: *sigh*

Jill:

Jill: Here you are.

?

Betty: You're not helping me, Jill. It's Better he learns how to drink like a man now rather than later.

?

Deal:呼……

Deal: Phew...

Betty:

Betty: Hey, you piece o' scrap. There's something I need to tell you.

?

Deal:

Deal: Hm?

?

Betty: You can listen too, Phil. I know?curiosity kills you.

?

Phil……

Jill: Phil, she says...

?

Betty:

Betty: Okay, here we go...

?

Betty: That girl, Laura? She's head over heels for you!

?

Jill:Laura?

Jill: Laura?

?

Betty: She's the one that's designing?the dog clothes.

?

Jill:哦。

Jill: Ah.

?

Deal:

Deal: Huh...

?

Betty:

Betty: Just "huh"? That's all you've got to say?

?

Deal:

Deal: What? Do you want me to blush and act flustered and shy?

?

Betty:

Betty: Yes!

?

Jill:Lilim

Jill: Can Lilim blush?

?

Deal: Just the non-heavy duty Social?Development types... and I'm of the heavy duty kind.

?

Betty:

Betty: Damn it!

?

Betty: Anyway. It's f【屏~蔽~_(:з」∠)_】??cking obvious she's all over you, you know?

?

Betty: The way she steals glimpses of you... how she looks around for you whenever she enters a room...

?

Betty:

Betty: Oh man, youth is awesome.

?

Jill:

Jill: You could be reading too deeply into things.

?

Jill: Like when you read your horoscope and start searching for supporting evidence throughout the day.

?

Betty:閉嘴,Will。

Betty: Shut up, Will. *yawn* It's love and I know it.

?

Jill:

Jill: Yeah, yeah...

?

Deal:

Deal: Are you tired?

?

Betty: Three of the dogs thought it was a good idea to eat plastic foil...

?

Betty:

Betty: One had a paw stuck in a jar...

?

Betty:

Betty: They're like kids sometimes.

?

Deal:

Deal: Sleep a bit. I'll wake you up when we?leave.

?

Betty:

Betty: Thank you...

?

Jill:

Jill: That was fast.

?

Deal:

Deal: Exhaustion and alcohol. What can I say?

?

Jill:

Jill: Are you okay?

?

Deal:

Deal: I'm still fine, yeah.

?

Jill: Can I ask you something about the whole Laura thing?

?

Deal: Sure.

?

Jill:

Jill: If she WAS interested in you, what would you do?

?

Deal:

Deal: That's a tough one...

?

Deal:

Deal: First, there's the whole problem of workplace romances.

?

Deal: I also don't know her very well. In fact, I'd be lying if I said I remember what her face looks like.

?

Jill:

Jill: What's the tough part, then?

?

Deal: Well, if I rejected her, that would hurt?her, don't you think?

?

Deal:

Deal: How do you handle that?

?

Jill:

Jill: Huh...

?

Deal:

Deal: Tough question?

?

Jill: No, I was just thinking that people say?a lot about the fear of rejection but not much about the fear of rejecting.

?

Jill:

Jill: Anyway, it's not like she'll go tell you her feelings just like that.

?

Jill: If she were to suddenly declare her undying love, she'd either be joking or a total nutjob.

?

Jill: So, don't worry about that right now.

?

Deal:

Deal: Yeah, you're right.

?

Jill: Will Betty push her towards you, though?

?

Deal:

Deal: Nah, she'll forget everything in the morning.

?

Deal:

Deal: Speaking of which, we should be going.

?

Deal:再見。

Deal: Goodbye.

?

Jill:

Jill: Please come again.

?

Deal:Betty,

Deal: Betty, wake up. We're leaving.

?

Betty:

Betty: Yesh mom...

Betty: Hey Jill, has someone ever proposed to you as a prank?

?

Jill:……

Jill: ...

?

Betty: You know, make you think they're falling in love with you just to reveal that it was all a prank.

?

Jill:……

Jill: ...

?

Betty:Jill?

Betty: Jill?

?

Jill: First year of high school. The guy I had my eyes on for a whole year had asked me out.

Jill: Saturday morning, I go to the meeting place. What do I find? It was all a prank by some bitches.

?

Betty:噢……

Betty: Ouch...

?

Betty:

Betty: Sorry, I-...

?

Jill: The worst part isn't that they set me up, but rather that I saw it coming.

?

Jill: I knew that guy wouldn't find me attractive enough to ask me out.

?

Jill:

Jill: I knew those bitches would target me sooner or later just for kicks.

?

Jill: I knew it all, so when it all happened I felt nothing.

?

Jill: They confirmed my suspicions that teenagers are a plague that must be eradicated.

?

Jill:……

Jill: ...

?

Jill:……

Jill: ...

?

Jill:

Jill: Anyway, why the question?

?

Betty:……

Betty: ...hey, piece o' scrap.

?

Deal:

Deal: Yeah?

?

Betty: These are the situations where you should've stopped me before I said anything.

?

Deal: It's Better to learn by tripping yourself.

?

Jill:

Jill: Why the question, though?

?

Betty:

Betty: U-Um...

?

Betty: I was asking because one of my exes' cousins has been hitting on me the past couple of days.

?

Betty: If it were somebody else, I'd pretend to be straight with the help of this piece o' scrap here.

?

Betty:

Betty: Sadly, she knows who I am.

?

Betty: Worst part is, knowing Vero, she probably put her cousin up to it as a practical joke.

?

Jill:

Jill: Well, I'd suggest telling the cousin that she should cut it out.

?

Jill: If she feels genuinely offended, they might not have been in cahoots.

?

Jill: But I'm just spouting nonsense based on what you've told me. Don't pay too much attention.

?

Betty:

Betty: It's Better than my suggestion.

?

Jill:

Jill: What was yours?

?

Deal:

Deal: Waterboarding.

?

Jill:

Jill: I se-... what?

?

Deal:

Deal: The fact that she knows how to waterboard somebody is what scares me most.

?

Betty: The Girl Scouts also taught me how to skin a deer, and I see nobody making a fuss about that.

?

Betty:

Betty: But yeah, your advice sounds good enough.

?

Betty: Especially when you factor that if Gina's being honest about her, she probably won't feel offended.

?

Deal:Gina……

Deal: Gina... Which one was that again?

?

Betty: Blonde, flat as a cutting board but cute as a button.

?

Deal: Oh yeah... she came to the office Christmas party, right?

?

Betty:

Betty: That's the one.

?

Betty:

Betty: Well, it's getting late. We should be going.

?

Deal:

Deal: Yeah.

?

Deal: Thank you again for everything, Jill.

?

Betty:再見。

Betty: Bye.

?

Jill:

Jill: Please come again.

Dana:

Dana: Back.

Dana: Those damned cats moving the internet antenna...

?

Dana: Oh yeah, Gil. Some guy said I should tell you that "the bunny's late"... whatever that means.

?

Gillian:

Gillian: Oh, shit...

?

Gillian: Boss, I'm leaving early. If I don't come back in two days, consider me as good as dead.

?

Dana:

Dana: Yeah, yeah...

?

Jill: Shouldn't we be worried?

?

Dana: Think of him as a kid that tells outrageous stories to get attention and everything will be easier.

?

Dana:

Dana: Besides, he knows how to take care of himself.

?

Jill:

Jill: Yeah.

?

Dana: He'll be here on Monday like nothing ever happened.

?

Dana: In any case, I'll be back in my office. Maybe now I can finish watching that didgeridoo tutorial.

Stella: Hello, Jill.

?

Jill: Ah, Stella. You're here for another drink today?

?

Stella:

Stella: Not really. I was just around the neighborhood, and...

Jill:(好吧……)

Jill: (Right...)

?

Stella: A-Anyway, I found this bottle being neglected at my house.

?

Stella: And thought someone who likes old liquor as much as you would appreciate it.

?

Jill:

Jill: Really? I-I don't know what to say. Thanks!

?

Stella:

Stella: Well, it's nothing, really...

?

Newscaster: This just in!

?

Jill:

Jill: Hm?

?

Newscaster: The Apollo Trust bank has locked its doors, leaving about 30 people trapped inside.

?

Newscaster: The security system was activated after somebody tried to steal information from the main database.

?

Newscaster: Early this morning, the bank...

?

Stella: 哦,天吶……SEI!

Stella: Oh, gods... SEI!

Jill:……

Jill: ...

?

Jill:

Jill: I wonder if she'll be alright...

Newscaster: This just in!

?

Jill:

Jill: News? At this hour?

?

Newscaster: The Apollo Trust bank has locked its doors, leaving around 30 people trapped inside.

?

Newscaster: The security system was activated after somebody tried to steal information from the main database.

?

Newscaster: Early this morning, the bank...

?

Jill:

Jill: Damn... that's rough.

?

Jill: Ah, hello Jamie.

?

Jamie:晚上好,Jill。

Jamie: Good evening, Jill.

?

Jamie: Did you see the news about the Apollo Trust bank?

?

Jill: The newsflash just ended.

?

Jill: Sounds like things got ugly.

?

Jamie: From what I heard, there was a commotion earlier today.

Jamie: Something about people being unable to leave the building.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Let's hope for the best.

?

Jill:好的。

Jill: Yeah.

?

Jill: Gil stormed off just a minute ago, though.

?

Jamie: I see. I guess the bunny was late.

?

Jill: (He definitely knows what's going on.)

?

Jill:

Jill: What can I get you?

?

Jamie: Give me a Marsblast.

?

Jill:

Jill: Coming right up.

?【Marsblast】

Jill:一杯Marsblast。

Jill: One Marsblast.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Yeah, this is the one.

?

Jill: Marsblasts have always seemed poorly named to me. Shouldn't it be red instead of yellow-ish?

?

Jill:

Jill: Then again, the whole "Red Planet" thing is still its nickname.

Jill:

Jill: Ugh. Sorry, I got it wrong.

?

Jamie: No problem, just be careful.

Jill?

Jamie: Did the news distress you, Jill?

?

Jill:

Jill: A bit, yeah.

Streaming-chan:VR……

Streaming-chan: VR... can't believe I'm... *mumble* myself...

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Hey, who's this girl?

?

Jill: She calls herself Streaming-chan. She's been streaming her life 24/7.

?

Jill: I'm guessing her equipment's still running, so you might want to watch what you say.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Thanks for the advice.

?

Jill:

Jill: Changing the subject a bit, have you been hearing explosions or something throughout the day?

?

Jamie: I heard that a supersonic drone was undergoing tests and lost its course. That might be it.

?

Jill:

Jill: Aaaaah...

?

Jill: Hey, boss! The explosions were caused by supersonic drones!

?

Dana: That sounds Better than firecrackers!

?

Jill:

Jill: We've been trying to figure out what they were all day.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Ah, I see...

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Sonic booms are not sounds people can normally identify.

?

Jamie: And this one drone made a lot of noise when breaking the sound barrier.

?

Jill: Is this an area to test that kind of stuff?

?

Jamie:

Jamie: It's not. Which makes the whole thing quite suspicious..

?

Jill:唔。

Jill: Huh.

?

Jill: Man, if only Gil was here to hear that info. He thought they were gunshots.

?

Jamie: Are you worried about him?

?

Jill: Sort of. He always leaves without notice for days, but he always comes back unscathed.

?

Jill: I'd be lying if I said I'm not worried, but at the same time, I've just kinda become used to it.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: He can be a troublesome man, huh.

?

Jill:

Jill: Sometimes.

Jill:

Jill: So, how have you been doing?

?

Jamie:

Jamie: I was working a contract, actually.

?

Jamie: But the target's inside the Apollo Trust bank. Figured I'd simply leave him be for now.

?

Jill:

Jill: And then you came for a drink.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Yeah.

?

Jill: A part of me wants to ask who your target is, but I'm guessing it's a secret.

?

Jamie: I can tell you that it appears to be part of a power struggle somewhere.

?

Jill: Has a target ever made you a counteroffer to go after the one that sent you?

?

Jamie: They usually don't live long enough. I also don't like it when a target who's seen my face manages to survive.

?

Jill:……

Jill: ...

?

Jamie:

Jamie: What happened?

?

Jill: N-Nothing, I just suddenly thought... what if someone sent you after me?

?

Jamie:

Jamie: I'd reject the contract.

?

Jill:

Jill: You would?

?

Jamie: I don't ask the name of many people, you know. And I always remember those whose names I've asked.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: They're real in my eyes.

?

Jamie: I like to know them Better and, to some extent, I care about them.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: I need that because otherwise...

?

Jill:

Jill: Otherwise...?

?

Jamie:……

Jamie: ...nothing you should concern yourself with.

?

Jamie: But don't worry. Unless you suddenly find yourself caught in the middle of a power struggle...

?

Jamie: The only way I see you becoming tangled up in that kind of mess is if you find yourself too involved with gangs.

?

Jill: Thanks for the advice... I guess.

?

Jill:

Jill: Still, the thought of people hiring others to kill somebody is...

?

Jill:

Jill: I can't wrap my head around that, and I don't want to either.

?

Jamie: The world can be a dark place, Jill.

?

Jill:

Jill: Say... do you think the people in the bank will be alright?

?

Jamie: This isn't the first time a bank has closed like that, but something is... off about this.

?

Jill:

Jill: Off? How?

?

Jamie: I don't know. Maybe it's the hour. Maybe it's the fact that the news is making an unusually big stink out of it.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Let's hope I'm just overthinking it.

?

Jill:

Jill: Yeah.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Are you worried about something?

?

Jill:

Jill: A girl that was in here yesterday said she was going to that bank.

?

Jill: It's not like me to be personally invested in what happens to clients, but...

?

Jill:

Jill: Nevermind. Do you want something else?

?【Jamie

Jamie:

Jamie: I'll take my leave here, actually.

?

Jamie: I've still got business to deal with even if my target's trapped in a bank.

?

Jamie:保重,Jill。

Jamie: Take care, Jill.

?

Jill:

Jill: Please come again.

?【Jamie

Jamie:

Jamie: Yeah, I can make time for one more drink.

Jamie: Fetch me a Beer. Let's keep it simple.

?

Jill:

Jill: Sure.

Jill:請用。

Jill: Here.

?

Jamie: I once read that Beer played an important part in humanity's history.

?

Jill:

Jill: Yeah, I'm familiar with the theory. It's an interesting one.

?

Jill: The gist of it is that brewing was an important part of society during its development.

?

Jill: Drinks were ubiquitous while feasting. They helped to foster bonds and build faction alliances.

?

Jill: Given enough time and enough Beer, larger societies would be born.

?

Jamie: You seem to know a lot about this.

?

Jill:

Jill: Nah, just enough.

Jill:請用。

Jill: Here.

?

Jamie: Jill, this isn't Beer. You can't let your worries cloud your judgement or the quality of your work.

?

Jill:

Jill: Y-Yeah...

Jamie:Jill,

Jamie: Jill, have you ever thought about brain uploading?

?

Jill:

Jill: Brain uploading?

?

Jamie: I was thinking, what's the point of uploading yourself if you're still "here"?

?

Jamie: Let's say you upload yourself and, effectively, that new someone's in cyberspace. You will still be "here".

?

Jamie: Wouldn't it be weird to know that there's a you that's not you somewhere?

?

Jill:

Jill: That's... an interesting point.

?

Jill: I guess it'd be the same as cloning, huh? Imagine if your cyberspace self found out about the real you, somehow.

?

Jill:

Jill: Hell, imagine talking to your other self.

?

Jamie: There's more. Imagine placing multiple copies of you in different situations.

?

Jamie: Exposing each one to different scenarios to see how they develop.

?

Jill: I guess it is kind of heartbreaking in a way.

?

Jill: Imagine someone with some illness uploading their brain into the ether.

?

Jill: Only to find out their physical bodies are still alive and "here," instead of living in a place where there is no disease.

?

Jamie: I remember an article from a while back about the earliest forms of brain uploading.

?

Jamie: It would scan the brain in such a thorough and intense manner that it would effectively kill the person.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: It used the words "burn the brain".

?

Jill:

Jill: Ouch...

?

Jamie: All for nothing because the data would be corrupted or broken.

?

Jamie: They halted all brain uploading research after that.

?

Jamie: I think they started another project about living brains in jars or something after that.

?

Jill:

Jill: That subject interests you, huh?

?

Jamie: It makes for a nice time sink when I'm doing nothing.

Jill: Last time you came, you mentioned something about going haywire.

Jill:

Jill: What did you mean? I'm intrigued.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Have you ever felt like your sanity has slipped?right by you?

?

Jill: Well, a client earlier tonight was driving me nuts,?but aside from that... no.

?

Jamie: Truth be told, neither have I. But I'm afraid of it happening.

?

Jill:

Jill: How so?

?

Jamie: I don't know. I just have the lingering fear that at some point I won't be myself.

?

Jamie: I'll go crazy, I'll wake up a stranger to myself and I won't care...

?

Jamie: It's just an irrational fear that lingers in me and?there's nothing I can do about it.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Like the fear of cockroaches for some people.

?

Jill: Only instead of fearing a crawling nuisance, you fear lunacy...

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Something like that.

?

Jamie: Sometimes I wonder if uploading my brain would solve all those problems.

?

Jill: Well, that technology is still a ways off.

?

Jill: I've heard of a couple of experiments regarding the technology, but it seems everything's still too buggy.

?

Jamie: I'll have to wait until it's safe, then...

?

Jill: Until then, don't worry too much about those possibilities unless they're tangible enough.

?

Jill:

Jill: Otherwise, you're no Better than a hypochondriac.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Good point.

?

Jill: The way you said it makes it sound less like something you feel might happen.

?

Jill: Something you're just afraid COULD happen at some point.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: That's pretty much it, yeah.

?

Jill:

Jill: Doesn't that make you saner? I mean...

?

Jill: Were you really on your way to becoming an unhinged maniac, I don't know if you'd think about it at all.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Hm... you might have a point there.

Jill:

Jill: Hey, how did... how did you get started in the whole gun-for-hire thing?

?

Jill:

Jill: Is there a stormy past?

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Hm... that's a good question.

?

Jill:呃?

Jill: Eh?

?

Jamie: It's not like I'm an amnesiac or anything like that, but many parts of my past seem to be blurry or vague.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: I can remember my parents but not their names.

?

Jamie: I remember I went through compulsory education, but not what I studied in college

?

Jamie:……

Jamie: ...or, for that matter, if I even went to college at all.

?

Jamie: I seem to have had a fairly normal past, but I get the sense that something happened along the way.

?

Jill:

Jill: Doesn't that concern you?

?

Jamie:

Jamie: Not really, no.

?

Jamie: I am who I am right now and that's all that matters to me.

?

Jamie:

Jamie: I won't go putting feelings where there aren't any.

?

Jill:

Jill: Sounds like good advice, regardless of context.

?

Jamie: I have this theory that it's all from back when I got expunged from nanomachines.

?

Jamie: Something must've hit my brain and made things blurry.

?

Jamie: Not quite damage, but almost.

?

Jamie: Well then. Nice talking to you, Jill.

?

Jill:

Jill: Same here. Always a pleasure.

?

Jamie:Gillian

Jamie: Say hello to Gillian for me when he comes back.

?

Jill:

Jill: Please come again.

?

Jill:呼……

Jill: Phew... all done.

?

Dana:

Dana: You want to stay here? Seems the street's quite restless.

?

Jill:

Jill: Thanks, but I'll pass. I have a couple of matters to attend to at home.

?

Dana:

Dana: You do?

?

Jill: Yeah, I ordered a Nanocamo module for my apartment. It should be installed by now.

?

Dana: Nanocamo? Isn't that a tad expensive?

?

Jill:

Jill: Yup. To be honest I asked my mom for it.

?

Jill: She had been pestering me about what gift I wanted for Mega Christmas for a while.

?

Jill: She's been asking that for four years now and I've always said I was fine.

?

Jill: So I... took the chance and asked her for it. Used up all the past gifts.

?

Dana:哦。

Dana: Oh.

?

Jill:

Jill: Feels a bit weird to ask your parents for a gift like that when you're 27.

?

Dana:

Dana: I'm sure she doesn't mind.

Dana: So, what will the Nanocamo module change from your apartment?

?

Jill: I got the basic plan: Walls and one piece of cloth. So I picked my kotatsu too.

?

Dana:

Dana: You have a kotatsu?

?

Boss?

Jill: You know what a kotatsu is, Boss?

?

Dana:

Dana: I'm more impressed you know what it is.

?

Dana: I mean, futons are common knowledge, but a kotatsu... not so much.

?

Jill:

Jill: Yeah, well. Days get cold and the heater might not be enough.

?

Jill: And the Japanese have mastered how to live comfortably in reduced spaces.

?

Dana: You should invite me sometime, I wanna see how you decorate the place with that.

?

Jill:

Jill: Let's plan a day to grab a Beer, yeah.

Streaming-chan: No more... dancing... *mumble* I'm tired.

?

Jill:

Jill: What do we do with her?

?

Dana: I'll take care of everything, don't worry.

?

Jill:

Jill: Alright. Sorry for leaving her like this.

?

Dana:

Dana: No problem.

?

Jill:

Jill: Well, I gotta go.

?

Jill:明天見,Boss。

Jill: See you tomorrow, Boss.

?

Dana:

Dana: Careful out there.

time to tell the tips?

Dana: He'll be here on Monday like nothing ever happened.?In any case, I'll be back in my office. Maybe now I can finish watching that didgeridoo tutorial.

Dana: I mean, futons are common knowledge, but a kotatsu... not so much.

?

暖桌foot-warmer(又名被爐kotatsu)是在冬天里使用的、日本獨特的生活用品。
