ABCs for Kittens
Once there were two kittens from one litter,
Tagged along all day long.
Chasing, hiding, stealing sugar and wasps,
“One day this one will be the king,”
With the other at his back,
“And that one as your queen.”

Senche, Senche-raht, Pahmar, Pahmar-raht...

Two moons went and came,
Fading and looming,
Their shadows sizing yet also drifting apart.
“This one will be the master of swords and blades,”
But Flu had struck the other down,
“And that one will pray by all sincerity.”

With scream and death.
Approached by days of wars, of parting away,

“And that one will wait till eternity.”

Aligned and parted,
Still she waiting, wandering and lingering.
For this one had promised,
And the other prayed and pleaded,
Where moonlight flowed with pity.

Among the clanmothers,
Revered by many and feared by even more.
But never had this one returned,
And neither did the other forget.
“One day that one will be his queen, and his only.”

Lying and dying,
Gasping and whispering of one last desire,

The kitten kissed and kissed over the skull,
“So that we will now never be separated ever again...”
