I read the books as the first step in research for the role! I lived in China for a few years, but now I’m back in the US. My Dad got cancer, so I left my career there to come back and be with him. He passed away, but moving back to China mid-pandemic wasn’t a great strategy either. I’m in LA for now!

The production value is incredible and the casting is top notch, too. Love from France! Apparently Netflix's adaptation of this series will be "whitewashed", that's sad... They don't have any problem to add black people whenever they can but when they have to adapt a chinese story, they can't find chinese actors?

Captain Shi looks like he stepped right out of the book.Casting is very good overall, and the series has a visual style that closely matches what I felt reading the books. It's ALWAYS better to hear the actors emote in their own language -- so it's fortunate that the subtitles are so good here.

史隊長看起來就像是從原著里走出來的一樣。選角總體來看非常棒，而且這個劇集的視覺風格與我讀書時感受到的風格相當吻合。聽演員用他們自己的語言傳情達意總是更好一些，幸運的是，這劇的字幕配得非常好。
