“一意孤行”

Not stray any farther down the wrong path

3月8日，外交部長王毅在兩會記者會上談到“薩德”時表示：

引進“薩德”顯然是一個錯誤的選擇，不僅有違為鄰之道，而且很可能使韓國陷入更加不安全的境地。
Deploying THAAD is a wrong move. This is not the way for neighbors to treat each other. It may very well make the ROK less secure.
所以我們奉勸韓國國內(nèi)某些勢力不要再一意孤行，否則結(jié)果只能是損人又害己。

China strongly advised the ROK to halt the deployment of THAAD and not stray any farther down the wrong path, "otherwise the ROK will only end up hurting themselves and others.

“枉費心機”

Wasting their efforts doing so

2月7日，針對“日本收買英國右翼智庫抨擊中國”一事，外交部發(fā)言人陸慷回應道：

如果報道內(nèi)容屬實，我只能說這是枉費心機。

If what is told in the report is true, I can only say that they are wasting their efforts doing so. 

日方一方面呼吁改善中日關(guān)系，如果另一方面又無端攻擊抹黑中國，這就涉及誠信問題了。

Japan's credibility is called into question when it on the one hand calls for an improved relationship with China and throws mud at China on the other. 

我們敦促日方切實端正對華認識，多做有利于中日關(guān)系改善的事，而不是相反。

We urge the Japanese side to correct its attitude toward China and work for the improvement of the bilateral relationship rather than the opposite.

“捕風捉影、疑神疑鬼” 
Making speculations out of thin air or filling oneself with suspicions

3月3日，針對“中國公民入境濟州島受阻，國家旅游局提出嚴正交涉”是否與“薩德”有關(guān)的問題，外交部發(fā)言人耿爽回應：

中方對中韓之間的交流與合作持積極開放態(tài)度，但這需要有相應的民意基礎(chǔ)和輿論氛圍。

We have said repeatedly that China takes a positive and open attitude towards China-ROK exchanges and cooperation, but such exchanges and cooperation hinge on proper popular support and appropriate public opinion. 

與其總是在這里捕風捉影或疑神疑鬼，不如切實傾聽民眾呼聲，采取有效措施。

I have to add that rather than making speculations out of thin air or filling oneself with suspicions, it is better to heed the voice of the people and take effective measures to avoid affecting China-ROK relations and bilateral exchanges and cooperation.

“別有用心”

An attempt out of ulterior motives

7月7日，針對印度所謂“三國交界點”說法，外交部發(fā)言人耿爽回應稱：

此次印軍非法越界的地點位于中印邊界錫金段的邊界線上，距離吉姆馬珍雪山約有2000多米之遠，與三國交界點問題沒有關(guān)系。印方無視邊界條約的規(guī)定，把整個洞朗地區(qū)說成是三國交界點的范圍，顯然是別有用心。

The illegal trespass by the Indian troops took place at the Sikkim section of the China-India boundary over 2,000 meters away from Mount Gipmochi and has nothing to do with the tri-junction. The Indian side, in disregard of the boundary convention, takes the whole Doklam area as part of the tri-junction. This is obviously an attempt out of ulterior motives. 

印度在此次事件中引入三國交界點概念，并企圖將三國交界點擴大為一個區(qū)域概念，是在混淆視聽。

The Indian side tries to introduce the concept of tri-junction into this incident and equate that point with an area. They are misleading the public.

“不要做井底之蛙”

 Stop being a frog in a well 

7月14日，針對“蔡英文稱很榮幸接待巴拉圭總統(tǒng)”一事，外交部發(fā)言人耿爽回應：

希望臺灣當局審時度勢，盡快回到“九二共識”上來，不要再做逆潮流而動、不得人心的事。奉勸島內(nèi)某些人士，一定要睜開眼睛看世界，要擺正自己的位置，不要做井底之蛙。

We would also like to advise certain people in Taiwan to open their eyes to see the world, place themselves in a right position, stop being a frog in a well and deceiving themselves. 

“過河拆橋”
 Tearing down the bridge after crossing the river

7月14日，針對“美國或?qū)χ袊娉拘夹轮撇谩币皇?，外交部發(fā)言人耿爽回應：

作為安理會常任理事國，中方積極參與了安理會一系列涉朝決議草案的磋商，并支持有關(guān)草案的通過。

As a permanent member of the Security Council, China has actively participated in the consultation of a series of the Security Council's DPRK-related draft resolutions and supported the adoption of relevant drafts.

決議通過前，找中方幫忙，同中方合作，決議通過后，卻又對中國搞單邊制裁，這不是“過河拆橋”是什么?

Relevant country asked China for help and cooperation before the draft is adopted, but after the adoption, it is going to impose unilateral sanctions on China. Isn't it tearing down the bridge after crossing the river? 

“仁至義盡”

 Show our utmost patience and tolerance

8月22日，針對“印度就中印洞朗對峙問題尋求俄方支持”一事，外交部發(fā)言人華春瑩回應道：

中方迄今保持著高度克制。

So far, China has exercised utmost restraint. 

我們可以做到仁至義盡，但希望印方能夠拿出一個大國應有的負責任、守法律、講道理的態(tài)度，做出理性和明智的判斷和決策。

We can show our utmost patience and tolerance, but we hope that India, as a major country, can adopt the responsible attitude of abiding by the law and respecting the fact and make reasonable and wise judgment and decision.

“草木皆兵、杯弓蛇影”
 Staying panic-stricken and being jittery with imaginary fear

11月8日，針對“‘天鯤號’下水強化填海造島能力”的猜測，外交部發(fā)言人華春瑩回應稱：

“天鯤號”是中國疏浚裝備研發(fā)建造領(lǐng)域的新成果。

Tiankun represents China's new achievement in the area of dredging equipment development and construction. 

希望有關(guān)媒體客觀、理性看待中國的科技發(fā)展進步和工程能力提升，不要隨意聯(lián)想，更不要草木皆兵，杯弓蛇影。

We hope that relevant media can put China's scientific and technological development and engineering progress in perspective and refrain from making unwarranted connections, or even staying panic-stricken and being jittery with imaginary fear. 

“混淆視聽”
Pulling the wool over the eyes of the public

12月1日，針對“美拒絕承認中國市場經(jīng)濟地位”一事，外交部發(fā)言人耿爽回應道：

根據(jù)《中國加入世貿(mào)組織議定書》第15條，反傾銷“替代國”做法需嚴格依照中國加入議定書的規(guī)定如期取消，與中方是否滿足所謂市場經(jīng)濟地位的標準沒有關(guān)系。某些國家和人員試圖將兩者加以聯(lián)系，明顯是混淆視聽。

According to the Article 15 of China's Protocol on the Accession to the WTO, the surrogate country approach in anti-dumping cases must be abandoned as scheduled in the Protocol. It has nothing to do with whether China meets the so-called standards of market economy status or not. Some countries and individuals are trying to force a connection between these two just to serve their purpose of pulling the wool over the eyes of the public.

“無事生非” 

 Stirring troubles 

12月15日，針對“美再次呼吁中國停建南海島礁”一事，外交部發(fā)言人陸慷回應道：

我們還是希望域外國家和有關(guān)方面尊重域內(nèi)國家的努力，不要無事生非，不要興風作浪。

Therefore we hope non-regional countries and the relevant party will respect the efforts of regional countries and refrain from stirring troubles.
