Origin of language
Divine Source: As described in the book of Bible, language has been created by God. It has illustrated two ancient Stories-the first one, one emperor demanded a new-born baby, a goat and a mute shepherd into a isolated place. After two years of isolation, the baby uttered spontaneously "bekos", meaning "bread". The last one, another emperor has carried out the similar measure, eventually children have started to speak Hebrew spontaneously. (Key words: Babel, baby, etc.)
Natural Source: one view insists on language originated from nature. For example, bang, bow-wow, rattle...Although some parts of onomatopoeia words presumably come from nature, some abstract words and concepts certainly can be hard to find in nature. Another view assume that language may have come from natural cries of emotion such as pain, joy and anger. According to this assumption, the sounds related to emotions are produced by sudden intakes of breath. However, normal communication is based on exhaled breath. So, the hypothesis is not suitable to be a factor of language source.
The social interaction source: the view is also known as the “yo-he-ho” theory that language is originated from the sounds made by a group of people, who are involved into the same physical effort, such as hunting, farming…Gradually they develop the capacity for speech.
The physical adaptation source: it has two prominent physical features humans possess, which can contribute to speech production. From the whole and superficial perspective, humans have made a very significant transition to an upright posture, no slanting teeth and a small mouth, which play an auxiliary role in speech production. From the partial and deep perspective, in the course of human physical development, the head moved more directly above the spinal column and the larynx dropped to a lower position. This created another oral cavity-pharynx. Besides, most transcriptions need two organs (pharynx and larynx) to help produce speech.
The tool-making source: In the past, human had to make a series of tools because of survival. For example, human needed to hone a rock and find an appropriate wood to complete an ax, meanwhile it produced a specific and consistent noise, which can build a complex message, combined with tool-using and language-using abilities of human.
The genetic source: it introduces a very interesting phenomenon-some children who are born deaf become fluent sign language users. It can indicate that humans are born with a special capacity for language.
