很喜歡這本書(shū)，偶然間重溫有聲書(shū)，想起來(lái)曾經(jīng)做了一部分筆記，貼上來(lái)分享一下。

開(kāi)篇就是地點(diǎn)介紹，也是小主人公的目的地--少教所。Camp Green Lake(地名)沒(méi)有l(wèi)ake。

The campers are forbidden to lie in the hammock. It belongs to the Warden. The Warden owns theshade.

這個(gè)地方貧瘠，荒蕪。唯一的綠色就是兩棵老橡樹(shù)，樹(shù)中間有個(gè)吊床，可惜是給典獄長(zhǎng)的。

之后是環(huán)境補(bǔ)充，小心響尾蛇，蝎子和黃蜥蜴。被咬是常有的事，只要不是特別倒霉被蜥蜴咬到，那就認(rèn)命吧。

小時(shí)候的Stanley很可憐，沒(méi)人陪他玩只有一堆動(dòng)物毛絨玩具。stuffed animals就是指填充的毛絨玩具。

后面也寫(xiě)到在學(xué)校因?yàn)轶w型也受欺負(fù)。

He didn't have any friends at home. He was overweight and the kids at his middle school often teasedhim about his size. Even his teachers sometimes made cruel comments?without realizing it.

最可怕的羞辱是對(duì)方還不自知。

was innocent of the crime (無(wú)辜的)?for which he was convicted He'd just been inthe wrong place at the wrong time.

It was all because of his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather!

讀到這笑翻了，一切都要從我家的族譜說(shuō)起。有一個(gè)非常倒霉催的曾曾爺爺說(shuō)起。為什么說(shuō)是pig-stealing因?yàn)槭钦娴耐盗藙e人一只豬，被偷的一條腿吉普賽人就給了這個(gè)家族一個(gè)詛咒，噩運(yùn)一代又一代，生生不息。雖然他們家都不信，架不住總是在錯(cuò)誤的時(shí)間出現(xiàn)在錯(cuò)誤的地方，也就是時(shí)運(yùn)總是不濟(jì)。

Stanley's father was an inventor. To be a successful inventor you need three things: intelligence,perseverance, and just a little bit of luck.

小主人公的爸爸是個(gè)發(fā)明家，發(fā)明家三大要素智力，毅力和運(yùn)氣。很可惜He just never had any luck.

Our Stanley is Stanley Yelnats IV.

Stanley一家的另一個(gè)特質(zhì)，每一代的名字完全一樣，而且每一代都是單傳。

"Not every Stanley Yelnats has been a failure," Stanley's mother often pointed out, whenever Stanley or his father became so discouraged that they actually started to believe in the curse. The first Stanley Yelnats, Stanley's great-grandfather, had?made a fortune(發(fā)了財(cái))?in the stock market. "He couldn't have been too unlucky."

每當(dāng)一家子的Stanley Yelnats感慨時(shí)運(yùn)不濟(jì)的時(shí)候，媽媽是最鼓舞他們的一個(gè)，你們祖上不是還在股市上創(chuàng)收了么。而媽媽沒(méi)提的是后來(lái)曾祖父被綠林好漢搶了，不然現(xiàn)在就是在加利福尼亞的海邊而不是局促的舊公寓待著了。

公寓里一股smell of burning rubber and foot odor，讀到這還是想笑。這本書(shū)果然是一本開(kāi)心的書(shū)。因?yàn)榘职譁?zhǔn)備做舊鞋回收，因?yàn)橐浑p鞋的緣故兒子無(wú)辜判罪了。

As Stanley read the sign he couldn't help but think, Well, duh!

來(lái)到了CAMP GREEN LAKE，上面的牌子讓小主人公都覺(jué)得諷刺。

Stanley noticed?a burlap sack?filled with sunflower seeds on the floor next to the desk.

a burlap sack一麻袋，在《追風(fēng)箏的人》里剛見(jiàn)過(guò)。再次復(fù)習(xí)。

...the man in the cowboy hat produced two more cans of soda. For a second Stanley hoped that one might be for him, but the man gave one tothe guard and said the other was for the driver.

哈哈哈，不厚道笑出聲。小Stanley來(lái)到這個(gè)地方就覺(jué)得渴，后面也寫(xiě)到監(jiān)管根本不怕他們跑，甚至不會(huì)浪費(fèi)子彈在他們身上。因?yàn)?00多公里根本沒(méi)有水。

每天的任務(wù)就是挖坑，什么時(shí)候挖完什么時(shí)候結(jié)束，早挖完隨意歇，挖不完別想歇。有挖到什么上報(bào)。其實(shí)也是這個(gè)"營(yíng)地"的由來(lái)。

Stanley的"輔導(dǎo)員"目前看是一個(gè)不管什么事但脾氣還不錯(cuò)的人，名字很好記三個(gè)詞pen, dance, key念在一起。

第五章是各種綽號(hào)，很有意思。一個(gè)Barf Bag(嘔吐袋)已經(jīng)住院不回來(lái)了，一個(gè)重要人物Armpit腋窩(原名Theodore)，還有其他孩子均用昵稱X-Ray ，Zigzag(鋸齒), Magnet(磁鐵)還有一個(gè)沒(méi)真名沒(méi)昵稱，大家叫他Zero，因?yàn)閾?jù)說(shuō)他沒(méi)腦子。

這里小主人公因?yàn)榉Q呼Theodore被威脅，乖乖改稱了Armpit。

這一段話將居住地寫(xiě)得無(wú)限想象，最佩服簡(jiǎn)單的語(yǔ)言將內(nèi)容表達(dá)的無(wú)比生動(dòng)。

scarcity (稀缺)of water, each camper was only allowed a four-minute shower. It took Stanleynearly that long to get used to the cold water. There was no knob for hot water. He kept stepping into,then jumping back from, the spray, until the water shut off automatically. He never managed to use hisbar of soap, which was just as well, because he wouldn't have had time to?rinse?off the suds.

因?yàn)槿彼?，不但不怕孩子跑掉，而且每人沖洗時(shí)間只有四分鐘，到點(diǎn)自動(dòng)停，打肥皂就別想了。而且僅有涼水。

rinse這個(gè)詞最近一直見(jiàn)到，指沖洗

suds肥皂沫，本身詞匯就是s結(jié)尾

mop up?the juice. Stanley had never been one to leave food on his plate,no matter how it tasted.

吃的也是不怎么樣，燉在一起的肉和菜是一個(gè)味。肉是紅棕色的，菜曾經(jīng)是綠色的。但小主人公一點(diǎn)不浪費(fèi)，不管多難吃都光盤(pán)行動(dòng)。

mop up這個(gè)詞組太形象，跟拖地一樣用面包將盤(pán)子的湯底擦干凈。

后面也寫(xiě)到家里因?yàn)楦F請(qǐng)不起lawyer，也是自己來(lái)到"綠湖營(yíng)地"的原因之一。

后面講了一切的起因。因?yàn)镾tanley在學(xué)校受欺負(fù)錯(cuò)過(guò)校車，過(guò)立交橋被從天兒降的鞋子砸住了腦袋。他以為是"命運(yùn)的恩賜"，結(jié)果鞋是當(dāng)?shù)匕羟蛎餍悄季栌玫?，沒(méi)人信他的"鬼話"，最終來(lái)改造了。

第七章有些長(zhǎng)，小主人公開(kāi)始去干活了。

It was still dark. The only light came from the moon and the stars, more stars than Stanley had ever seen before.?It seemed he had only just gotten to sleep when Mr.Pendanski came in and woke everyone up.

Using all his might, he brought the shovel back down onto the dry lake bed.?The force stung his hands but made no impression on the earth. (描寫(xiě)細(xì)致)?He wondered if he had a defective shovel. He glanced at Zero,about fifteen feet away, who scooped out a shovelful of dirt and dumped it on a pile that was already almost a foot tall.

因?yàn)檫@個(gè)地方太熱了，大家天不亮已經(jīng)開(kāi)始干活。已經(jīng)發(fā)現(xiàn)三本書(shū)里出現(xiàn)了感覺(jué)還沒(méi)休息幾分鐘就要起床做事了(納尼亞獅子女巫魔衣櫥去石桌和哈利波特火焰杯看世界杯)。

用出全力Stanley發(fā)現(xiàn)自己也掀不動(dòng)一鐵鍬的土。而身邊的小伙伴已經(jīng)輕車熟路。

工具棚里的鐵鍬雖然都差不多，但 X-Ray 卻已標(biāo)記了自己專有的工具，因?yàn)樗躺夏敲匆挥⒋纾?.5厘米左右。側(cè)面說(shuō)出挖坑這活是真非人類(因?yàn)橥诳拥拇笮∩疃染澡F鍬來(lái)衡量)。

"You're not looking for anything. You're digging to build character. It's just if you find anything, the Warden would like to know about it."

作者又一次隱隱提出挖坑的目的和這個(gè)駐扎少管所的目的，應(yīng)該就是為了某個(gè)寶藏。

He leaned on the shaft and pried up his first shovelful of dirt, then dumped it off to the side.

Only ten million more to go, he thought, then placed the shovel back in the crack and jumped on it again.

這一段豹豹讀著都手疼，想起聽(tīng)podcast也會(huì)給自己倒數(shù)計(jì)數(shù)。還沒(méi)一會(huì)兒小主人公就出血泡了a blister had formed in the middle of his right thumb, and it hurt to hold the shovel.

之后是插入家族故事，高曾祖父是如何得到詛咒并且被稱為
no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather的事。

年輕時(shí)great-great-grandfather喜歡上了一個(gè)姑娘，可惜一個(gè)養(yǎng)豬大戶也喜歡。姑娘的父親說(shuō)至少要有一頭肥豬下聘，這難為死了Elya Yelnats(高曾祖父)。

"I will trade you my fattest pig for your daughter," Igor (the pig farmer的名字)offered.

"And what have you got?" Myra's father asked Elya.

"A heart full of love," said Elya.

"I'd rather have a fat pig," said Myra's father.

這一段笑死了。

他去找當(dāng)?shù)赝\(yùn)的吉普賽老婦人，老婦人勸過(guò)他，最后還是幫了他，當(dāng)然一個(gè)條件，不然會(huì)有詛咒上門(mén)。結(jié)果肯定是高曾祖父爽約了。

"Good," said Madame Zeroni. "You're too young to get married. You've got your whole life ahead of you."

"But I love Myra."

"Myra's head is as empty as a flowerpot."

"But she's beautiful."

"So is a flowerpot. Can she push a plow? Can she milk a goat? No, she is too delicate. Can she have an intelligent conversation? No, she is silly and foolish. Will she take care of you when you are sick? No, she is spoiled and will only want you to take care of her. So, she is beautiful. So what? Ptuui!"

這一段讀起來(lái)也特別有趣。你要娶一個(gè)能操持家務(wù)的老婆，而不是什么都不會(huì)腦袋空空的草包花朵。可花朵架不住就是漂亮呀！其實(shí)寫(xiě)給孩子也挺有教育意義。

Madame Zeroni warned that if he failed to do this, he and his descendants would be doomed for all of eternity.(永恒，永劫)

At the time, Elya thought nothing of the curse. He was just a fifteen-year-old kid, and"eternity" didn't seem much longer than a week from Tuesday.

這一段也是很有諷刺意味。

這一章是反復(fù)兩個(gè)人物故事交疊敘述的，雖然讀起來(lái)有些跳，但畫(huà)面感很強(qiáng)。

Magnet gestured with his arms to the great expanse around them. "Pick a hole, any hole," he said.

哪里有"衛(wèi)生間"？---隨便挖個(gè)洞，當(dāng)然要注意make sure nothing's living in it.莫名想起羅爾德大爺寫(xiě)空軍服役時(shí)的片段。

Stanley手上的血泡爛掉又結(jié)上，又爛開(kāi)。大量的汗水依舊抵不上伙伴的進(jìn)度。太陽(yáng)還沒(méi)到最高的點(diǎn)，但他知道不能再拖下去了。

He wasn't afraid of the curse. He thought that was a lot of nonsense. He felt bad because he knew Madame Zeroni had wanted to drink from the stream before she died.

因?yàn)樽约合嘀械墓媚镎娴拇劳噶耍咴娓敢粴庵鲁龊ｋx開(kāi)了這個(gè)地方。當(dāng)船只離開(kāi)飄蕩海上的時(shí)候他想起了他的承諾。倒不是怕詛咒，而是對(duì)于Madame Zeroni 這個(gè)幫忙的吉普賽人，他有些愧疚。

書(shū)中小主人公也是一位審時(shí)度勢(shì)的好主。

Stanley tried to figure out what he'd say if Mr. Pendanski asked him what he wanted to do with his life. He used to think he wanted to work for the F.B.I., but this didn't seem the appropriaate place to mention that.

文中幽默之一

Stanley kept his mouth shut most of the time. He didn't talk too much to any of the boys, afraid that hemight say the wrong thing. They called him Caveman and all that, but he couldn't forget that they weredangerous, too. They were all here for a reason. As Mr. Sir (長(zhǎng)官就是讓他們這么稱呼他，也是笑點(diǎn))would say, this wasn't a Girl Scout camp.

Doc Hawthorn was almost completely bald, and in the morning his head often smelled like onions.

鎮(zhèn)上的人不敢冒險(xiǎn)，生病了往往去醫(yī)生那里抓了藥，又去Sam那里買偏方。醫(yī)生也搞不明白到底是誰(shuí)再起療效，關(guān)鍵醫(yī)生頭禿，自己貌似也在用洋蔥生發(fā)偏方。

另外糾正:被綠林好漢劫持的是小主人公的曾祖父，故事中重要配角是所謂"沒(méi)腦子"的Zero,而不是之前的Armpit.

整本書(shū)特別有趣，讀起來(lái)非常歡樂(lè)，一度讓我想起羅爾德大爺，可以嘗試的入門(mén)書(shū)。
