推特平臺到底有幾副面孔？一方面對力挺香港警察的言論和賬號，統(tǒng)統(tǒng)“刪無赦”；另一方面又默許“僵尸機器人”賬號大量散布反華的不實言論。一向自詡“技術(shù)中立”的推特平臺，真的是中立的嗎？

太尷尬了！推特才公布了一個消息，就被頻頻打臉。

近日，美國社交媒體巨頭推特（Twitter）刪除了近千個內(nèi)地賬號，理由是這些賬號有“官方背景”，涉香港“假新聞”。

結(jié)果，被一篇來自牛津大學(xué)的研究報告啪啪打臉。文章稱，推特平臺上大部分所謂“言論自由”的反華消息，竟然是由“僵尸機器人”發(fā)布的。

這些信息竟是“僵尸號”發(fā)的

2018年9月，牛津大學(xué)互聯(lián)網(wǎng)協(xié)會的兩位學(xué)者Gillian Bolsover和Philip Howard，在《信息、傳播及社會》（Information，Communication and Society）期刊上發(fā)表論文，分析中國是否在用受腳本控制的賬號（即bot賬號，意為通過腳本程序定時定點自動推送信息的賬號）在微博和推特上進行宣傳。

這篇文章的結(jié)論，恐怕要讓推特感到瑟瑟發(fā)抖。

論文結(jié)論表明：微博上并不存在親華信息的機器人發(fā)帖情況；相反，用簡體中文在推特上發(fā)布的反華信息中，大量存在機器人發(fā)帖的情況，針對的是海外華人和大陸用戶。

• However, contrary to expectations and previous news reports, no evidence was found of pro-Chinese-state automation on Twitter.?Automation on Twitter was associated with anti-Chinese-state perspectives and published in simplified Mandarin,?presumably aimed at diasporic Chinese and mainland users…

因此，兩位學(xué)者認為，微博賬號上并沒有使用發(fā)帖機器人作為宣傳手段。相反，推特卻被“僵尸機器人”占據(jù)，日夜?jié)L動推送“套路化”的反華信息，令人窒息。在這種人為構(gòu)建的“反華網(wǎng)絡(luò)空間”中，受眾無法自由選擇信息。

▌推特賬號：超過70%機器人發(fā)帖

數(shù)據(jù)分析結(jié)果顯示，推特上前100個最常發(fā)送與中國時政相關(guān)話題的賬號中，有71個賬號的全部推文都來自第三方平臺。其中35個來自一個日本的bot平臺twittbot。另外，這些賬號中許多都使用慣用的腳本發(fā)帖。

• Seventy-one of the top-100 highest posting accounts postedall or almost all of their posts using known automation platforms: 35 used the Japanese platform twittbot.net, nine IFTTT (If This Then That) and four dlvr.it.?

• Additionally, many of these accounts appeared to be using custom automation scripts.

研究報告具體闡述了機器人發(fā)帖的特征：發(fā)帖更頻繁、24小時滾動發(fā)帖、發(fā)帖話題單一、轉(zhuǎn)發(fā)比例極高……

這些機器人賬號的名稱、頭像和背景都存在相似性，并經(jīng)常以#人權(quán)#為標簽，發(fā)布反華信息。

他們打著“民主、人權(quán)”的旗號，添加世界人權(quán)宣言、權(quán)利運動的網(wǎng)站鏈接，把自己打造成正義的化身，實則為了煽動反華情緒，以卑鄙的方式主導(dǎo)國際輿論話語權(quán)。

這些機器人賬號的工作，就是發(fā)布反華內(nèi)容。他們最擅長的就是不斷轉(zhuǎn)發(fā)反華“意見領(lǐng)袖”的推文，以達到刷屏的效果，在西方社交媒體上創(chuàng)造出反華的輿論環(huán)境。

用戶本想在推特平臺獲取更加多元化的信息和在線的公共領(lǐng)域，卻發(fā)現(xiàn)，在這樣一個信息環(huán)境中，少數(shù)反華聲音卻試圖利用機器人發(fā)帖來主導(dǎo)話語體系。

• These users come to Twitter seeking more?diverse information and an online public sphere but instead they?find an information environment in which a small number of anti-Chinese-state voices are attempting to use automation to dominate discourse.?

▌微博賬號：不存在機器人發(fā)帖情況

反觀微博賬號，在超過81萬個微博賬號的153萬條評論中，只有145個賬號發(fā)過超過100個時政相關(guān)的帖文。

• Out of the 815,776 unique users in this dataset of 1,543,165 comments, only 145 users posted 100 or more comments across the examined posts.?

根據(jù)其發(fā)帖規(guī)律、內(nèi)容、來源，這些高頻發(fā)帖用戶并沒有使用機器人的情況，而且也沒有證據(jù)證明發(fā)帖的是虛假賬號。

• Based on an examination of their posting patterns, post content and?post?sources, these high-posting users did not appear to be using automation and there did?not seem to be evidence that these were fake accounts.

為什么微博基本沒有使用“機器人僵尸賬號”發(fā)送虛假信息呢？

論文作者給出了一個解釋：機器人發(fā)帖這種廉價又骯臟（a cheap and dirty solution）的宣傳方式，是小團體或個人為達到特殊目的而使用的。

對中國這樣擁有人力物力的泱泱大國而言，在微博賬號上推送有創(chuàng)意的、個性化的信息，才是更明智、更有效率的傳播方式。

▌樣本來源：微博和推特賬號

這篇文章的樣本來源于微博和推特兩個平臺上的帖文及評論：

• 文章選取微博上官方時政帖文下方的150萬條評論，以及110萬條使用與中國和中國時政相關(guān)標簽的推特帖文。

• Findings are based on an analysis of 1.5 million comments on?official political information posts on Weibo and 1.1 million posts?using hashtags associated with China and Chinese politics on?Twitter.?

研究選取了2017年1月26日到2月7日之間（當年春節(jié)期間），26個主要賬號，包括新聞機構(gòu)、政府部門以及官方機構(gòu)發(fā)布的時政帖文下面的評論。

這些微博賬號基本覆蓋了中國最大的新聞信息來源。

• These accounts were selected to cover the largest state providers of news information on the platform…

同時，研究還選取了來自推特平臺的數(shù)據(jù)。兩位學(xué)者統(tǒng)計了2017年1月24日到2月5日期間最常使用的27個與中國相關(guān)的標簽。并根據(jù)這些標簽，選取了2017年2月21日到4月8日期間使用其中任何一個標簽發(fā)布的帖文。

這些標簽包括：

• All of the tweets made between 24 January and 5 February 2017 using one of these?hashtags was collected. These tweets and their concurrent hashtags were analysed?to ascertain hashtags?commonly used to post about Chinese politics.?A final list of 27 of the most common hashtags associated with Chinese social, political and cultural issues was established.?

文章所使用的分析工具是印第安納大學(xué)開發(fā)的一個叫做BotOrNot的軟件，對這些賬號進行分析和評分。

亂封賬號，推特被“bug”腐蝕了？

當?shù)貢r間8月19日，推特狂封936個所謂有“官方背景”的賬號。推特（Twitter）在聲明中稱，這些賬號故意在香港散布政治紛爭，破壞當?shù)乜棺h運動的“合法性和政治立場”。

這一波操作，讓一些普通的吃瓜群眾“懵”了：我只想靜靜玩推特，咋就被莫名封了號？

BBC近日報道稱，根據(jù)推特周一發(fā)布的文件，來自倫敦國王學(xué)院24歲學(xué)生Luka Ivezic的兩條推文，被標記成與中國相關(guān)的虛假信息，而這些推文討論的是人工智能、比特幣和其他相關(guān)技術(shù)的話題。

• According to documents released by Twitter on Monday, four of Mr. Ivezic's tweets were flagged, all of which discussed Artificial Intelligence, bitcoin and other related tech subjects.?

• BBC：困惑的學(xué)生對推特說：我不是中國特工

Luka對BBC說，“封推特這樣的事情會發(fā)生在我身上，真是諷刺”。

• "It is a bit ironic that something like this would happen to me," he said after I contacted him about the list.

Luka的父親Marin對BBC說，Luka正在接受網(wǎng)絡(luò)和隱私等方面的調(diào)查，他擔(dān)心這會影響兒子的職業(yè)生涯。?

• “任何一個雇主都會對他進行詳細的背景調(diào)查，即使我們有合理的解釋，雇主也可能因為Luka發(fā)布有問題的推文而拒絕雇傭?！?/span>

• "Any of his target employers would have extensive background checks and this would come out. Even with a solid explanation, some might decide that the risk of there being some truth in Twitter's reporting is not worth the trouble."

事實上，根據(jù)推特負責(zé)人收到的推文列表，該賬戶從未在推特上發(fā)布或轉(zhuǎn)發(fā)任何與香港暴亂相關(guān)的內(nèi)容。

• According to the list tweets picked up by Twitter's moderators, the account was never used to tweet - or, it appears, retweet - anything remotely connected to the unrest in Hong Kong.

澳大利亞國際網(wǎng)絡(luò)政策中心（研究全球錯誤信息的智庫）的員工Elise Thomas認為，通過瀏覽推特發(fā)布的數(shù)據(jù)庫，可以看出，推特并不是非常準確?！捌渲幸恍┵~號與（香港的）抗議活動根本沒有關(guān)系?！?/p>

• "From going through the datasets Twitter has released,” she told me in an email, "it doesn’t seem like [Twitter] were particularly precise.

一向自詡“技術(shù)中立”的推特平臺，到底該以何種面孔在全球受眾中立足？
