P2 主題:Marriage
Woo, woo, that's what I call a loaded question(意味深長/說不清楚的問題). I think every people out there have their own definition of this question. But I think this question should be rather to look in this field like "Do you have a complete mind about what a marriage is truly mean? " For me, let's pay some attention to the word "marry"—"M" "A" double "R" "Y".
"M" for mature, are we mature enough to get married? Can we get a true definition for our long-life-time goal? Are we responsible for the daily life of future days? Can we get the proper answers of everyday life, of what we eat everyday? That's an adult have to truly think about. And college students, are we ready enough?
And second is "A". "A" for appreciation. Boys and girls together are gaining appreciation of each other. And I think, for a handsome boy, a pretty girl, the appreciation of appearance is much easier for us to gain. But that's not so important. The much important point is that the internal appreciation of each other. Can we get internal each of appreciation like the personality, intelligence and the something like the mutual understandings? Yes, that's appreciation comes much from internal and was much important than ever before.
And double "R" is for responsible and reliable. We have to make sure about the responsibility we are gaining of everyday life. We have to think about the future. We have to settle down, make money and bring up our children and live a peaceful life. Someone may think, is that so crucial? Definitely it is. Just because like the responsibility is the essence of our life.
And for "Y" is not too easy to say "yes", we have to think carefully before leaping into love. I think there's not so important whether there's a law about whether we should allow college students to get married. But much important thing is that can we get a truly understanding of marriage. So that's the real thing about whether we should marry now or then.
Time's never too late, 'cause it's all up to you. For ending my speech, I want to say a little Spanish, that's Vango mingo. It means "Come on, if you have get ready for it!"
Thank you.

P3 主題:Globalization
Honorable(尊敬的) judges, ladies and gentlemen. Young people in China are the future generation. New opportunities and challenges face them. one of the most important thing of these is globalization. With China's entry into the Word Trade organization, it is time for China's younger generation to get on board and take an adventurous journey through the massive waves pf globalization.
What is globalization? It cannot be defined by one or two definitions, because it means something different to each person. People in the world are more closely connected to each other. Information technology allows goods and services to be available throughout the world. An overarching(全面的) international system is shaping politics and foreign relations through countries. This phenomenon has been called "globalization". China's younger generation must be educated to understand, respect globalization.
As one member of China's younger generation, I understand that globalization is similar to the Olympic Games. Both have a common performance field, various competitive events, multilateral rules(多邊規(guī)則), and the participation of global nations. Is China's younger generation aware of this? Are you aware of this, ladies and gentlemen?
China has been accepted as one member of the World Trade Organization. Every member has the same goal. China's younger generation are also the participants. So how can we play well in this competitive game? Ladies and gentlemen, I ask you to consider two words: opportunity and challenge. Every opportunity comes from challenge that is well maneuvered(操控). That is to say, there is no opportunity without challenge.
Globalization merges and unites international business and cultures. Through communication and transport, there is a chance for better understanding of the world and people in it. Western education is more accessible. We may study for degrees without leaving the country, which was impossible five years ago. These opportunities bring challenges to meet global standard of employment. In future, employers will demand globally minded young Chinese employees to expand their goals. We are expected to be multi-skilled in foreign languages, business and to have effective interactive social skills. We must appreciate diversity, promote communication in multinational business.
As one part of the world, we are obliged to confront(面對) and deal with negative influences which may appear through globalization. For example: the uneven distribution of world resources, the imbalance of economic development, the widening gap between the rich and the poor, and the environmental problems. Fiercely, we should shield, protect and fight against international terrorism for world peace. We will use communication to promote understanding of all nations and all people. With cooperation, we will have confidence to build our future, because we face challenge with our knowledge, courage and intelligence. We must continue our efforts to fulfill our dream: A better future for China and all Chinese people.
These are the opportunities and challenges for China's younger generation. Thank you.

(個人意見:大量羅列事實,缺少邏輯分析)
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. You may have an account in overseas bank where you can deposit and withdraw your money within one day. You may stay at home while joining a distance learning class from another side of the globe. You may be skiing on the top of the Alps (阿爾卑斯山脈)while managing a business over the Internet. These amazing experience are widely considered as the evidence of globalization.
But globalization is not a new trend. Perhaps the term itself is new, the concept has been a part of human history from the earliest time. Zheng He was an early pioneer in globalization. His seven expedition(遠征) voyages (航行)in the early 15th century from China across Asia and to Africa opened trade migration(貿(mào)易遷移) and other activities between China and some 35 countries. Till 21st century in China, the evidence of globalization has been seen continually. Our 44 year' dream of marching(前進) to the World Cup Finals came true. Our bid for World Expo(世博會) 2010 is under way. Our 15 years' efforts paved(為...鋪平道路) China's way to the WTO. And after 4 years of long waiting, China's name was finally heard by the whole world, "Beijing, 2008 Olympics." All these achievements show that China is ready to find her place among the world nations.
The world is coming closer to us. Look at ourselves, my fellow students. We love to eat KFC's and McDonald's rather than Chinese dumpling; we love to drink Coca-Cola rather than tea; we love to see Hollywood's rather than domestic movies. Even some youngsters pay more attention to celebrating Christmas than Spring Festival.
You may ask, "Are we losing ourselves when we are being globalized?" My answer is "No". Our civilization has been a great charm to the world. The great triumph (巨大成功)of the movie "Crouching(蜷縮) Tiger, Hidden Dragon"(《臥虎藏龍》) in the Oscar's makes western people take the notice of Chinese movies as well as Chinese Kongfu. The fascinating Peking Opera, the amazing China's acrobatics, and the magic Chinese acupuncture(針灸) make people far and near intoxicated(陶醉的). And the "Bravo for China" is heard from Vienna(維也納) to Athens(雅典), from Athens to Sydney. We need globalization. Globalization needs us.
Ladies and gentlemen, we live in a great era when the globe has never been so small, the people have never been so close, the information has never been so explosive. As the younger generation of China, we are preparing for the coming challenges. 640,000 students were attending graduate schools entrance examinations in January, 35% more than last year, because we find that holding a bachelor degree(學(xué)士學(xué)位) is no longer enough in the time of knowledge-based economy. The examinees of TOEFL, GRE and IELTS have been lining up from midnight hour in order to buy one registration form, because we all know that language is the major way of understanding and communicating. When the globalization is drawing near, we will compete with not only the youngsters in our nation, but also those throughout the world.
My dear fellow students, today we are arming ourselves with knowledge and experience; tomorrow we will be devoting ourselves to taking up the challenges. Today we are trying to learn more about our land and the rest of the world; tomorrow we will be promoting the cooperation between China and other countries. Today we are living in the changing world; tomorrow we will be changing the world.
Thank you.

P5 主題:Globalization
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen:
A specter(陰霾/恐怖之物) is haunting(困擾) the world—the specter of globalization. Some call for a holy alliance(神圣同盟) to exorcise(去除) this specter, as in the displays of brave (and?)cowardice(怯懦) in the anti-globalization protests(抗議、反對) of Seattle, Quebec City and Genoa(西雅圖、魁北克市和熱那亞). Other cheer it as an omnipotent(無所不能的) cure for widespread poverty in developing countries and for the sluggish(蕭條的) economies of the Western world. Different people may take different views, but one fact remains certain: like it or not, globalization is coming. However, it is coming not as an evil specter, nor as a benevolent genie(仁慈的精靈). Its true meaning will depend on our response.
A fearful challenge it may seem to be: millions and tons of cheap agricultural products flooding Chinese markets; bargain-priced industrial goods driving thousands of workers out of jobs; hundreds of national companies drowning in a sea of multinational firms and icons. But this is not the real challenge, only a refection of it. The real challenge, the one staring us, China's younger generation in the face, is a direct challenge to our personal capacities. If we have hundreds of Yuan Longping's, the father of Chinese hybrid rice and green revolution, should we fear a flood of foreign agricultural products? If we have our own legions of (大批的,legion:羅馬軍團,引申為千軍萬馬)Bill Gates and Sino-something Softs(國產(chǎn)軟件?Sino:中國的), ought we to be afraid of a Windows monopoly? If we have a multitude of(許多) our own Bell Labs(貝爾實驗室) and Research & Development Centers filled with our young geniuses, will we succumb(屈服) to high-tech embargos(西語:禁運)? If we have a myriad of(大量) multilingual negotiators and lawyers, will we falter(步履蹣跚) in the global bargaining games? No. The answer is clear.
(近義詞組: hundreds of—legions of —a multitude of —a myriad of )
So, in the face of these challenges, skill is power, knowledge is power, courage is power and above all, creativity is power. With these abilities, we can transform the specter, the evil specter of globalization into a benevolent genie. So let us learn the languages of our customers and competitors in the global marketplace. Let us master the rules of trade and technology, let us scare off the scare of globalization. And above all, let us be creative. If we simply imitate what we see in the global marketplace, we will never realize our full potential, but will always lag a half-step behind. Our ancestors have demonstrated their creativity by enriching the world with compass, gunpowder, paper and movable type(活字印刷術(shù)) and given us a great model to be creative in meeting the challenges of their time. Now it is our turn. It is our turn to take the challenge— a challenge to be more creative in solving the problems of our time, the time of globalization.
Opportunities are not windfalls(意外收獲). Opportunities belong to those who dare to take the challenge. Once we are ready, we can and we will be able to transform this evil specter of globalization into a benevolent genie, that means, we will transform the challenges we face into a great opportunity. "Made in China" will not then be a meaning name for inexpensive shoes and clothing, or merely a label for consumer goods and home appliances(家具), but an icon of unsurpassed(非常卓越的) excellence.
Yes, globalization is coming. With our talents and with our wits, with our courage and with our creativity, with our hospitality and respect for our neighbors in the global village, let us whisper loudly(?) in our minds: Let it come, let it come.
Thank you very much.

P6 主題: Globalization
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I remembered vividly when my uncle visited the US several years ago, I had asked him to bring me a pair of Nike shoes. To be honest, having a pair of Nike shoes was an every kid's dream at that time. It will be especially cool to have a pair from the US. However, when my uncle returned, I found that shoes were made in China! I was a bit disappointed of course. And this made me puzzled for quite a long time, an American brand made in China! Is it what we now call the globalization?
Well, nowadays, we often see Chinese youngsters walking down the street with dyed blonde hair, wearing a New York Yankees sweater, trying to be cool like those American kids. With more and more cultural exchanges and technological developments, our generation has become more westernized. Someone has described us as a generation coming of age with personal computers, digital videos and general material prosperity. The world, for us, is getting smaller and smaller. Through the internet and mobile phones, the world is literally at our fingertips. We can contact our friends around the world, we can travel from place to place, and we can even know what is happening on the other side of the world at the same moment. This is the benefit globalization has brought us.
Indeed, we have been given more opportunities than our parents have dared to dream. But what's interesting is: globalization has offered us opportunities to accept and win over challenges, as well as challenges we can win to gain opportunities. This runs an enduring circle until we gain something absorbed. So what do we actually learn from those foreign countries, just their appearances, or their essence?
A teacher of mine who used to work in the US told me once she drove from Chicago back to Washington, and she was caught in a traffic jam. There was an emergency line beside the regular route for the emergencies or the ambulances. But no one drove his or her car on it. I happen to recall a likely situation here that when we need to stay in a queue and waiting for a long time. Everyone would be so hurry and get so close to each other that we even can hear people breathing or smell the flavor in his mouth! Why we are doing the same way while we younger generation has already looked more westernized? I suppose we are just learning or copying the shell of the advanced country from the western world. That makes our every effort to reach the essence of that culture superficial and useless.
But does this mean we just fetch the core of that culture out and directly plant it into our culture? As far back as a couple of years ago, great thinkers and philosophers both in the East and the West had dreamed of and anticipated the brilliant concept of "One world"——a world for all humans, without boundaries, all people living in harmony, peace and prosperity prevailing in every corner on earth.
But does this mean all of the people should look the same or act the same way? I believe we need a combination, a combination of the advanced quality of those foreign countries and the traditional customs of ourselves. China is a country with more than 5,000 years history. We have plenty of ancient maxims that directed us to morality, charity, and humanity. It is our duty to keep those customs for a long and never forget them. It is also challenges for us to combine the western culture with our traditional culture and make the combination with Chinese characteristic.
Every single step will be a great progress toward that dream, a dream of our younger generation, to build the "One World", to make it an integrated world, for ourselves and for all generations to come.
Thank you.

P7 主題: Globalization
Honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen. Talking about globalization reminds me of a heated discussion in my dorm a month ago. One girl asked: "What would you do if you had a daughter?" We burst into laughter and teased each other, while the thoughts of a future daughter made our imagination run wild. Peggy said she wanted her daughter to go abroad to receive an advanced education. Aileen wished to teach her to play Pipa, a traditional Chinese instrument. When it was my turn, I was hesitant to reply. Should I urge my daughter to speak a foreign tongue, keep pace with the latest fashion, adapt to the changing society to become quite "globalized" as I'm now trying to do, or raise her in a traditional environment like my own?
The question, at that very moment, made me reconsider what I had long taken for granted. In my memory, my grandmother was as thrifty(節(jié)儉的) and hardworking as any Chinese woman of her generation. She ate simply, dressed simply, lived simply. She seldom went beyond her neighborhood. A brief rest in the afternoon, sitting in her old wicker chair and listening to the local opera of PinTan was a great luxury to her. My mother, born in the 1950's, received a secondary education. She maintains our cuisine(烹飪) of pickles(咸菜) and salted-eggs, knits sweaters for the whole family, and once made me a red cotton-padded(填棉絮的) coat, which I disliked as old-fashioned. She loves reading, enjoys watching soap operas, but is absolutely bewildered(感到困惑) by the internet, IT industry, and computers. I love them both, though their lives strike me as unimaginable. I often ask myself, when they were girls, were they happy?
I'm different from my mother and my grandmother. I can speak English. I enjoy French fries. I listen to the Backstreet Boys and exchange information with my friends through email. I'm looking forward to a life of plenty and self-fulfillment. My roommates press again for my answer. If my daughter should call me by my first name, dress like Britney Spears and eat nothing but Big Mac's, I would feel weird. If she never learned to appreciate my pickles, throw away my knitting basket and embroidery(刺繡), and refer to me as "outmoded", I would feel even worse. How can we possibly call that generation Chinese? They are no more familiar to us than foreigners. While getting lost at the receptive end of other cultures, we no longer keep in touch with the soil where we were born.
With China's opening to the outside, we face and enjoy an endless flow of foreign investments, information, global fashion, and French fries. Globalization, however, implies too-way communication. We not only contribute to the outside world, but also clarify our sense of self, through knowing more about people around us. I came to value my grandmother's devotion to the family, and my mother's courage in finding a new job after being laid-off. I even began to like the red coat. The long-standing tradition of our elders has created the ground we younger generation stand on and the spring of motivation we drink from. What I want to do is trying my best to bridge gaps instead of making them wider.
Bring my people to the world, and bring the world to them. It is our responsibility. I do hope one day, the local opera my grandmother loved so much will delight foreign ears, and my mother will discuss salted-egg cuisine with French chefs on the internet. Finally, my daughter can proudly tell her international friends:"See! This is my mother's speech on globalization twenty years ago. I could not agree more. She predicted what I would be today."
Thank you!
