?All right. Let's talk about mixer brush and smudge tool.?

Actually, these guys are quite similar. So I thought it's really important to show you all the way they work. And also give you some tips on the differences between them. ?

So mixer brush, basically, there are two ways of using mixer brush,?

first one is when we use mixer brush to kind of Introduce a little bit of soft edging.?

for example, let me make something with a very kind of solid edges,?

And then I will use the mixer brush, and let's use the same brush for the mixing.?

So basically mixer brush goes over here.?

And i've got an shortcut for it. So you can customize it as well.?

So whatever I pressed and I was able to make some brush pressing b goes back to the brush mode.?

So press N and select the same brush. ?

And as you can see the different options, I usually just go for default one very wide.?

And basically what it does for me, it starts like smudging things around and it introduces a very nice kind of transition.?

And gradient and stuff like that.?

Basically, it's very useful because it looks very much like what you do in traditional painting. And this is how you introduce like, for example, if you just painted with this brush, this brush is very dry,?

So this is a perfectly dry brush. With some paint on it. And using a mixer brush, you kind of introducing wet. it's just basically the way you do. If you're doing an oil painting, you have a brush which is driving some paint. And then you put some marks. It just gives you this kind of reading lose suggestive elements.?

And by using mixer brush, you're introducing more of those transitions, And what was suggested before it becomes more, do gets more definition and stuff like that.?

So basically, that’s the way the first type of using mixer brush. And you can just do a very simple exercise. If you want to try to kind of experiment with it, put some brush strokes, like put something like this, and then take especially fabric painting.?

Fabric is really difficult. If you're doing it blink properly. But using mixer brush, it will give you a lot of. Do you see what I mean? I'll give you a nice transition.?

So you suggest the cloth. You're not actually painting it, because, you don’t want to spend time and prove people that you can paint the cloth.?

All you need to do is to be able to suggest the cloth thing. like this. and I was using smooth tool, and do this exercise like literally which we don't think about anything just try to create this kind of cloth looking type of thing.?

create this gradient. So something like this. also you can do it.? The other reason why we are using smudge mixer brush,?

for example, let's say using a very kind of opaque, silhouette. ?

Let's say we painted something really quickly. This is a guy. With this walk,?

So it's a nice silhouette. And now we want to push it backwards. So basically, we want to kind of integrate him better with the background to make the light bleeding.?

So you use the mixer brush tool, kind of soft on these edges to make them less.?

It's almost like you want to introduce depth of field without actually using depth of field.?

And mixer brush is the best way to soften the edges.?

And once again, it's a very same principle, similar principle of suggestion.?

Reverse statement, Because wherever you have like really hard edges, it's a statement.?

that you want people to look there. Let’s say this guy was looking like sidewalks.?

We know the focal point. Let's see if this was a Pope or something like that.?

We would know that the most important part is his face. So then you would use the mixer brush.?

His face. use mixer brush too much, to make like soft edges everywhere else.?

And leave his face as the most sharping, which will create a focal point straight away.?

You make a statement because it's the most crisp thing in the picture. Or vice versa, like you can smudge like his face as well.?

So it becomes very vague.?

And then you actually have your focal point shifts to this guy. So this is the main guy.?

So it depends what you want to emphasize. You use the mixer brush to kind of soften your edges,?

and it will impact your story telling a lot. Because it will allow you to kind of move your focal point inside the picture just by using smudge and mixing things together.?

You really need to understand that it is done for a single purpose to emphasize to state to make statements in one place is like this.?

So basically, I already showed you the way it works. But now I will kind of show you how you will extensively use it to create something really cool.?

For example, if you want a repeating shape like, say let's do this guy, And we want to use this one as a repeating shape. We can do a brush out of it.?

But sometimes like cleaning brush is really time consuming what you need to do. You use a flat brush, you increase the size.?

So you're covering everything. like all the pixels that you just painted.?

And you go from very, where do you go to dry option? And you click out and you kind of sample it.?

You can see it over here. And then when you paint, it will paint with using this one. All you need to adjust the spacing. And when you paint, it will pay for this geometry,?

which is a very cool feature because you can create and design like crazy stuff. And also it affects everything you have for kind of you can adjust all the shape dynamics and all the stuff that you have over here.?

So yeah, you can create some really beautiful for example, pattern sword, let's say designs on your suit or or stuff like that. ?

Like zipping and repeating patterns. Like for example, you can do full panels. Again, the same principle as we used in the first lessons.?

you stretch them and you have really cool stuff. Let's quickly do something else. For example. And also you can use it in your picture as well. For example, let's say we've got this guy over here. And we all go on selecting. the only thing you need on transparent layers. So I will use blending modes.?

We shall show the next lesson. I will readjust transparency. So I just have this guy on transparency layer. And you can go like this and use the mixer brush again. You can paint with the guy. Oh, for example, if you have a crowd, different people. It's really easiest way to do it.?

Your design one of the guys. You mix them. And then basically all you need to do is go back with your brush work.?

And just to tweak those guys, To introduce some variety, because they all look the same.?

because it allows you to create brushes without actually going on creating those brushes. let's just do another example of something more complicated. I'm going to sample this guy.?

you see what I mean? Boom, boom. And then you can take this guy. Sample in. And now you have a very nice, repetitive pattern that you can use for anything.?

for walls, for tire tracks or any kind of design elements that you wanted to use.?
