??Any way you slice it: /idiom, whatever way you?choose?to?consider?the situation

?? thought-provoking sentence: internalizing every rejection as a personal attack is borderline narcissism. Because what are you Implying That no one can say no to you ever? Not everything is about you. You’re not gonna be everyone’s cup of tea and vice versa.

??try to see getting good at being rejected as a way to build my resilience against life?

Tip number one?? normalize rejection as a statistical possibility.

Tip number two?? ditch your black and white thinking.

because it’s fun to connect with people. You’re not trying again anyone’s approval. You’re there for yourself. Don’t care too much about the results.

??script: let’s face it, rejection sucks anyway you slice it. Be it asking someone out, pursuing a new career, or making a new video only to have no one watch it. No matter the scenario, rejection always seems to be right around the corner and is an inescapable, inevitable and indispensable part of life. And if you are naive enough to think otherwise, just wait two seconds and grow up. While rejection is everywhere, and it understandably stings, there’s no point in trying to avoid it. Sure, running away from rejection may offer temporary relief. Spending your whole life trying to avoid any interaction that may or may not lead to rejection is a very limited way of living and a very impoverished understanding and conception of life. You end up hating people, hating life and never stepping out of your Comfort zone ever. ??So I figured it’s worth talking about how to deal with rejection, not only because it will help us reduce our anxiety but also because on the other side of rejection and the fear of it is all the good things that life could offer us. ?? but before I start talking about how to deal with rejection, let’s first talk about how absolutely not to deal with it, which is to throw a fit, Flip the table over and turn into a sore loser and or an angry Karen. But we all know better, right? However, another extreme of dealing with rejection is a lot a lot more common and it usually flies under the radar, which is to internalize it and let it leave a dent in our self-worth and self-esteem. Although these two strategies of dealing with rejection are diametrically opposed to One another, both are equally self-destructive, and, dare I say, narcissistic. Yes I said it. Internalizing every rejection as a personal attack is borderline narcissism, because what are you insinuating—— that no one can say no to you, ever? That every time someone rejects you, it’s about you and not about someone else’s preferences, someone else’s priorities and just what they’ve got going on in their life? I hate to break it to you, not everything is about you. Here’s the thing. It doesn’t matter how good you are at your job, you’re not gonna be hired at every job. Doesn’t matter how good-looking you are and how attractive and charismatic you are, you’re not gonna be everyone’s cup of tea. That’s not sad. that’s just Reality. I mean even you do it all the time. You don’t listen to a certain genre of music or Watch a certain type of movies or certain type of TV shows. Does that mean those kinds of movies and music are necessarily bad? ?? but it’s still not my jam. But when it comes to other people choosing us, or I guess not choosing us and rejecting us, we take everything personally. ???? so with that comes my Tip number one on how to deal with rejection—— which is to normalize rejection as a statistical possibility. If it can happen to the best of us, Regularly and repeatedly, then us average Joe’s in life shouldn’t place such importance on every case of rejection either. ?? ditch your black and white thinking. When the stakes are high end the environment is daunting, it can be tempting to interpret any given social interaction as having only two possible outcomes, acceptance or rejection. We tend to forget that real life scenarios and interactions are far more diverse and nuanced than just those two possibilities. We all need to get into a habit of talking with someone Or striking up a conversation with a stranger or dancing with someone and doing silly things with people Just because. Why because it’s fun because you are trying to have a good time. Because it’s fun to connect with people. ?? Tip number three take people off the pedestal.別把人當(dāng)神一樣供著 like I said before not everything/interaction is about approval or disapproval acceptance or rejection. Therefore, you shouldn’t give people that much power well because they actually don’t have that power. The interaction goes both ways. You are evaluating them as much as they are evaluating you. Besides a lot of times when we’re trying to make someone like us or trying to get something from this person, it’s easy to forget that the other person also has feelings fears and insecurities just like us. They’re just a regular person like us. They scroll through social media while sitting on the toilet and perhaps watch one too many episode of the office or any popular TV show. Despite how they are act in public, They are not James Bond or the maggot Robbie‘s of the world. They’re just as fearful and nervous as all of us. You have nothing to worry about because we are all insecure deep down. Here’s what’s ironic about rejection. A lot of times when we are so afraid of rejection we end up rejecting ourselves before others could reject us. And what’s even worse is that sometimes we could be unintentionally rejecting other people through our deflated and defeated demeanors. ?? Tip number four. understand where your fear of rejection and insecurities, in general, stem from and assess Whether or not that’s rational. A lot of times we feel rejected not because the person in front of us actually did reject us but because at some point in our life we actually were rejected when we were the most vulnerable and helpless, therefore we are conditioned to anticipate rejection even when the reality suggests otherwise. We are wired to anticipate the worst possible outcome. We can’t take anything they say at face value. Taking a risk is how you connect with people and how you open up to people. Here’s a bonus tip. you won’t feel as butthurt about it if you don’t but put all your eggs in one basket. Increase your pipeline. talk to more people. Explore all your options.
