sert 表示“插入、加入”

① insert

v. 嵌入，插入

拆分：in 內(nèi)，向內(nèi) + sert 插入

→ 向內(nèi)插入

→ insert 插入，嵌入

? He inserts the card in the machine.

他把卡插進這臺機器。

② desert

v. 舍棄，拋棄 n. 沙漠

拆分：de 不再，分開 + sert 加入

→ 不再加入

→ desert 拋棄，舍棄

? He deserted his wife and family for another woman.

他為了另一個女人拋家棄子。

③ assert

v. 聲稱，斷言

拆分：as 表強調(diào) + sert 插入

→ 強行插入觀點

→ assert 斷言

? He asserts that she stole money from him.

他一口咬定她偷了他的錢。

④ exert

v. 施加（影響等）；運用、行使（權(quán)威、權(quán)利等）

拆分：

第一種意思：

ex 外，向外 + (s)ert 插入

→向外插入

→ 施加

第二種意思：

ex 向外 + (s)ert 加入

→ 加入自己的東西向外部離開

→ 把自己內(nèi)部的水平展現(xiàn)出來

→ exert 發(fā)揮，運用
