1. lane n.

A lane is a part of a main road which is marked by the edge of the road and a painted line, or by two painted lines. 車(chē)道 e.g. Having to pass a driving test before they're allowed to take control of a 1.5 ton car on a 6 lane motorway

If one thing is a prerequisite for another, it must happen or exist before the other thing is possible. 先決條件 e.g. Firstly I will argue that safety is a prerequisite of liberty.

3. bemoan v.

If you bemoan something, you express sorrow or dissatisfaction about it. 惋惜; 埋怨 e.g. A number of people seek to bemoan those restrictions

4. trespassing n.

unauthorized entry to private property 擅自進(jìn)入 e.g. We follow laws on trespassing, we follow laws against theft

5. pharmaceutical adj.

Pharmaceutical means connected with the industrial production of medicines. 制藥的 e.g. pharmaceutical companies should trial their drugs before they put on the market.

6. physiological adj.

characteristic of or appropriate to an organism's healthy or normal functioning. 生理的 e.g. The most basic level of the Maslow's hierarchy of needs are our physiological needs.

7. indeed

You use indeed to introduce a further comment or statement that strengthens the point you have already made. (表示遞進(jìn)語(yǔ)氣) Indeed, I will go on to my second reason which is that I believe safety is a prerequisite of liberty

11. paragon

If you refer to someone as a paragon, you mean that they are perfect or have a lot of a good qualities. 完人; 杰出典范 e.g. Sweden was hailed at the time as a sort of paragon of liberty as the Victor of Europe

12. debilitating adj.

(of a disease or condition) making someone very weak and infirm. 使衰弱的 e.g. Many more lost it because of the debilitating effects of long term chronic illness or because they fail to access other medical services in the height of a raging pandemic.
