Luck says that when Jesus was born, Quirinius was governor of Syria, and that Jesus was born in Bethlehem, where his parents had gone to register for a census.
Luck says (3.1) that John the Baptist began preaching in the fifteenth year of the reign of the Emperor Tiberius. (26-27 A.D. or 28-29 A.D.)
Tradition says that Jesus was 30 when he began his ministry, and that he preached for three years.
