If somebody asks me about my opinion, why should I lie? They would get what they want, my opinion.

German mentality: To present himself very enthusiastics, gives him an audience in bad mood.
So germans learn to be reserved. To protect himself.
Telling jokes is also difficult. Whatever you tell, it?s a risk that nobdy laughs. Or critisies you and your joke. So you learn to be silent = no jokes.
If you tell fakes, to make a joke, they maybe think you are a liar.

You go like
"I hope I didn't offend anyone! Oh my god!" and I'm like "where was there even the slightest hint of an offence in this entire video??"
So ... yeah ... you're Canadian!

The first, I say to my International is: I'm German, please appologize my direct behavior. It helps a lot...

I’ve been to Germany a couple of times they get so angry if you did any small thing wrong
I get it it’s their country and they want people to be respectful but it get annoying sometimes so they need to understand that visiting people might not know these rules

Lived in Germany 10 after getting out of the army, most Germans are pretty cool, and are friendly enough. Maybe a little more reserved than in the states.

Today i was waking on the street and the gardener sitting on this huge machine that cuts the plants along the street didn’t stop for me to pass through. There was no way to cross to the other side of the street because of the cars driving and no crossing. He started to accelerate the huge car after me. I got almost tearful and scared. I’ve been wanting to think germans are kind but today I got very hurt. I started filming the situation and the guy got off the car and started yelling at me and asked me if I wanted to go to the police. I replied nothing and continued walking as fast as I could?

I agree with everything you say. I've lived in Germany and Austria for about 4 years. I'm American. The superficial behavior of Americans shows to me when I return home since I've gotten so used to it here in Germany. The worst about us Americans is the sense of entitlement. But there is one thing about Germans that is definitely rude, and my German husband (after living in Canada & the US for 6 years) agrees - when it comes to checkout lines at grocery or other stores, or anything to do with being considerate towards who is close by, they will literally budge right in to be first. And this is true of public transit. I've seen teens push the elderly out of the way to get to a seat first.

I think you are right about this topic, and furthermore, I think we can learn best about most of our own cultural variations by listening to a foreigner's view like yours. I'm learning about the Japanese now from Expats, and it blows my mind in a mostly posive way. I hope they don't fall into the same death traps as Europe, and learn from our mistakes, especially because of their amazingly considerate and polite ways.

Germans are considered rude by Americans because they are different:
1) They aren't over-friendly just to anyone in the streets
2) They will not talk just to anyone in a waiting line
3) They will only smile if they have a real feeling or reason
4) They keep in small groups, together. They aren't 'everyone's friends'.?
5) They are about order and rules. That means no bullshit chit-chats and small talks.

Well it's easy to explain why we Germans are so careful with what we say about our politics with the Refugees. It's because we don't want to be seen as racists. We can't even say we love our country without beiing refered as Nazi.?
Well somebody allready wrote it I think I'm worried about the consequences if I would write down here what I really think about it...after all this is the Internet.
But If it's just the question how good this Video is, i would say it was nice, I do feel better being a German right now XD.

We're not overpraise things. We're telling you the truth and how we see it if you're asking. Just our opinion. No matter what. Someone might think this is rude. But we don't want to fake. That's it. And for me it's more rude to say "Oh how great! You're doing a good job here!" and later be gossip about someones work. Or something like that. You know what I want to say?
