As daylight began to fade ,I picked Holly up from Susan's home. After saying goo'dbye to Susan and her tall stepmother,we drove back home.During the time,Ifound that Holly was speechless about the party, lowered her head. When we arrived home. she went straightly to her bed, lying ion it andtears flowing down. Curiosity crept up my mind and I asked what happened. She yelled that only in this party did she know that Susan's family was making ends meet and she was unable to buy gift to Holly.Holly also said nothing was more regretful thon she threw the carpet awas I placed the carpet on the table in front of her. Seeing the reinnont came back.Holly was wild with joy.She made anr a determination that she would use it for something. During the next few days,I always saw her knotting with the remnant, putting all her heart on it.One day Holly invited Susan to her house again. When she showed a new sweater to Susan,I saw gaiety bubbling up in both of their mind. They hugged and kissed each other tightly This warm sense hit me that true friendship with gratitude is more precious that the birthday gift itself even if it was just a carpet remnant.
