Skin cancer is exactly what its name suggest: cancer that initiates in the skin. It is the most common form of cancer in the United States. Of the three main types of skin cancer, the type three, malignant melanoma is the most dangerous. Like the other two types of skin cancer, melanoma generally begins on sun-exposed surfaces of the skin, but unlike the other two types, it has the ability to spread very quickly to other parts of the body.
Skin Cancer is diagnosed through the detection on the surface of the skin. Melanoma usually starts off as moles on the skin that, over time, begin to change in size, shape, or color; or become itchy. The number of people diagnosed with skin cancer rises each year, and melanoma is responsible for most skin cancer - related deaths. Fortunately, due to medical research and advances, melanoma is preventable and treatable. Monitoring sun exposure and periodically examining moles on your body could make all the difference. The key to successful prevention is understanding how to protect your skin from damage.
