A tigress, aged 9-10 was killed in the Olakallare forest area, which comes under the Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Gundlupet, Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka earlier this week.

The body of the tigress was recovered late on Tuesday and initially, it was suspected that it was killed during an infight

However, a closer examination of the carcass concluded that the big cat was killed after a fight with a bison (Indian gaur)

Bandipur Tiger Reserve Forest veterinarian Dr. Wasim Mirza performed the autopsy and ascertained the cause of death.

The carcass was cremated as per National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) protocol
