My transformative summer job teaching English

我是Cándida，是一名大學(xué)生，今年夏天擔(dān)任英語(yǔ)老師。

I'm Cándida, a college student who work as an English tutor this summer.

這是我的第一份工作，深刻地改變了我的觀點(diǎn)。

It is my first job ever, and transform my perspective profoundly.

我負(fù)責(zé)指導(dǎo)10名小學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)——備課、教授詞匯、會(huì)話、寫作等等。

I am responsible for instructing 10 primary school students in English - preparing lessons, teaching vocabulary, conversation, writing, and more.

在教室里，我遇到了各種各樣的孩子。

In the classroom, I encounter all kinds of children.

有些人恭敬好學(xué)，這讓我精神振奮。

Some are respectful and eager to learn, which uplift my spirit.

但另一些人則調(diào)皮而冷漠，在我講課時(shí)聊天或涂鴉。

But others are mischievous and aloof, chatting or doodling during my lectures.

我必須學(xué)會(huì)不把他們的行為放在心上，并保持冷靜。

I have to learn not to take their behaviors personally, and maintain composure.

一個(gè)男孩粗魯?shù)孛钗蚁魉你U筆，沒(méi)有一句禮貌的話。

One boy brusquely commanded me to sharpen his pencil, without a word of courtesy.

在過(guò)去，這種傲慢會(huì)激怒我。

In the past, such insolence would have infuriated me.

但我現(xiàn)在意識(shí)到，他只是一個(gè)不懂事的孩子。

But I now realized he was merely an insensitive child who knew no better.

我選擇不訓(xùn)斥他，因?yàn)橛?xùn)斥他是白費(fèi)口舌。

I chose not to reprimand him, for lecturing him would be a waste of breath.

這些事件教會(huì)了我耐心和寬容。

These incidents taught me patience and tolerance.

建設(shè)性地與各種性格類型的人打交道的能力是一項(xiàng)寶貴的技能，適用于生活中的所有努力。

The ability to engage constructively with all personality types is a valuable skill, applicable to all of life's endeavors.

在薪酬之外，我專注于全心全意地履行自己的職責(zé)——準(zhǔn)備材料，反思改進(jìn)，與每個(gè)學(xué)生建立聯(lián)系。

Beyond the pay, I focused on fulfilling my duties wholeheartedly - preparing materials, reflecting on improvements, and forging bonds with each student.

工作不僅是經(jīng)濟(jì)交換，也是個(gè)人成長(zhǎng)的機(jī)會(huì)。

Work is not just economic exchange, but also a chance for personal growth.

此外，我學(xué)會(huì)了尊重每個(gè)孩子的差異，而不是把我的期望強(qiáng)加給他們。

Moreover, I learned to respect each child's differences, without forcing my expectations on them.

每個(gè)人都有自己的綻放時(shí)間和方式。

Every individual blossoms in their own time and manner.

雖然很累，但這次經(jīng)歷讓我站在了老師的立場(chǎng)上。

As tiring as it was, the experience allowed me to step into a teacher's shoes.

我對(duì)教育者所需要的激情和毅力充滿了深深的欽佩。

I emerged with profound admiration for the passion and fortitude educators need.

這份工作極大地滋養(yǎng)了我的成熟和智慧。

This job nourished my maturity and wisdom tremendously.
