There would be no rain in the Demon Netherworld, thought Hsi Wu dizzy and sleepy. The rain represented he had made it.
He was weakly lying down on the ground, unable to open his eyes or spread his wings. Small raindrops fell on his body and something unknown beside him was emitting smells.
He knew the situation was very dangerous, especially when he was in an unknown place. But the price for fleeing the Netherworld was too big. Although he was immortal, the injury made it impossible for him to move. Weakness filled his body and spirit.
The sound of footsteps was getting close and stopped in front of him, which made him a little panicked. He was afraid that he might be sent to the Netherworld again just after getting out of it.
Hsi Wu struggled to open his eyes and a pair of red shoes was in his sight. Though the face couldn’t be seen, it should be a child.
“…Jackie!”
It turned out to be her, thought Hsi Wu, whose consciousness was sinking into darkness.
“Aiiee-yaahh! The Sky Demon escaped from the Demon Netherworld!”
On waking up, Hsi Wu heard an old voice screaming. He was quite familiar with it. It was this voice’s owner who sent him back with magic to the Netherworld last time. Hsi Wu opened his eyes and saw Jackie Chan and others through iron railings. Uncle was walking over and over anxiously; Tohru was standing behind Uncle; Jackie was scratching his head, full of confusion just like Captain Black; and Jade was standing quietly aside unusually, without saying a single word.
“But Sensei, the eight doors have all been closed. How did Hsi Wu manage to get out?”
“Phut!” Uncle knocked Tohru on the head, “there’s more than one way to leave the Netherworld. Portals may be not required.”
“Then Uncle, can we send Hsi Wu back through the portal?” asked Jackie.
“Phut!”
“Oh!”
“Didn’t understand me? The door has been closed! Uncle must think up another method to seal Hsi Wu into the Netherworld.” Uncle said, sprinkling powder on the ground. “Uncle’s magic can prevent Hsi Wu from escaping, but it’s not so easy to send him back…”
“Yes, Sensei…”
After Jackie and others walked away, turned the corner, and were out of sight, Hsi Wu looked around to check his situation.
He was locked in a cell with thick iron chains tying his hands, feet, and wings. He was probably locked in Section 13. But that didn’t matter. At least he had been back to the human world.
“This time it won’t be so easy to send me back.”
The light was turned off. Darkness hid everything but Hsi Wu’s eyes. With the red light from them, the atmosphere was so weird…
