ROOM REWARD DISTRIBUTION
So some of this might be off a bit, since in looking into it found several inconsistencies already, but in terms of decision making during play, or general knowledge of what might lie ahead, this should serve nicely.
This information covers what rewards rooms can offer, how they are selected, and how you can kind of predict what you might see next. This does not cover blue/gold laurel generation, I'll save that topic for another time. This is purely, "if I see a blue/gold laurel, what is it likely to be?"
Room rewards are selected randomly from a bag. They are then checked against eligibility for that room. Certain rooms have restricted eligibility ("Free" rooms in the end of biomes cannot have money, midbosses can only have boons, etc). If a reward is not eligible, it is replaced into the bag. If no rewards in the bag are eligible, the bag is refilled with another copy of the original bag, while leaving the ineligible rewards in the bag. 2 exit rooms cannot show the same reward, so that will remove things from eligibility. Boons can be shown on both doors, but cannot be the same boon, though the God of the boon is not relevant here.
GOLD LAUREL BAG: 金色麥穗房
Centaur Heart 1, no extra requirements
Centaur Heart 2, must have at least 1 boon to see this
Charon's Obols 1, no extra requirements
Charon's Obols 2, must have at least 1 boon to see this
Boon 1, no extra requirements
Boon 2, no extra requirements
Boon 3, no extra requirements
Pom 1, must have at least 1 boon to see this. If your boons are not pommable, you will receive "Spare Wealth", at least 100 obols (scales with chamber number, not 100% sure how)
Pom 2, must have at least 2 boons to see this. Same "Spare Wealth" applies 所以拿不到第二個(gè)石榴的人如果急需石榴就需要拿第二個(gè)祝福 “take bad gods"
Hammer 1, must have 0 hammers currently, have no hammer in the shop (if you're in the shop). The 0 hammer requirement means that when the reward bag is "refilled", you cannot obtain Hammer 1 again, even though it is added back.
Hammer 2, must have 1 hammer currently, no hammer in the shop (if you're in the shop), and will only appear starting in Elysium
Hermes boon, must have at most 1 existing Hermes boon, have no hermes in the shop (if you're in the shop), and will only appear at run depth 13. This usually means it will start appearing in Asphodel, but you can get it as a "free" reward in the last room of Tartarus if you take a Chamber 13 chaos gate, allegedly (I cannot confirm this since run depth still confuses me a bit)
Trial of the Gods, must be at least chamber 7, have interacted with 2 gods at least thus far in the run (do not have to have their boons currently), be coming out of a 2 exit chamber (cannot be forced into a trial), be at least 3 chambers into a biome, and have been at least 15 chambers since the last Trial was offered
ADDITIONAL NOTE: Rewards are removed from the bag when they appear on the door, not when you obtain them.?
BLUE LAUREL BAG: 藍(lán)色麥穗房
Darkness 1-4, no extra requirements, there are 4 of them
Elite Darkness Encounter, needs to come from a 2 exit room and be 3 rooms deep in the biome (maybe 5 in Tartarus). This explains why they are rarely seen in Asphodel.
Gemstones 1-2, no extra requirements
Elite Gemstones Encounter, same requirements as other Elite Encounters.
Chthonic Keys 1-2, no extra requirements
Elite Key Encounter, same requirements as other Elite Encounters
Nectar,If you have the upgrade that gives a pom with a nectar, nectar will not appear until you have at least one boon, the same as Poms in gold laurel rooms. Minimum biome depth of 3 ?ONLY IF YOU DONT HAVE UPGRADED POM NECTAR
If the game can't fill a room with a reward a Food reward is generated. This is only ever seen on First Run since only darkness and keys can be offered as blue laurel rewards on first run, or 3 exit blue laurels in tartarus (chaos, erebus) with Fated Authority shenanigans.
一層和二層會(huì)分別看到三個(gè)小boss房間,如果你看到了第三個(gè)而不進(jìn)去,就說(shuō)明你錯(cuò)過(guò)了,第三次會(huì)看到2個(gè)小boss房間,如果看到第二個(gè)而不進(jìn),也錯(cuò)過(guò)了。
This system helps to explain some things that you can see and observe, but didn't know for sure, like Hermes always appearing in Asphodel. It's not guaranteed, just very likely since your reward pool will be running low by then. Or the same thing with the 2nd hammer being offered incessantly in Elysium. If you turn it down, it will not be offered again until the bag is empty, after which it will be twice as likely to be offered with a full bag.
Since seeing the reward on the door removes it from the bag, not entering, the only reliable way to control the bag is with MidBosses. If you have seen all 3 boons in your bag, and you see a midboss, the reward bag will be refilled, before one boon will be removed from it for the midboss offering.
Remember that anything obtained from shops + trials do not remove things from the bag.
This doesn't have a ton of implication in terms of being able to control stuff, but it helps to understand the game and know what you might expect to see in future rooms
