New Year's Message

????????回顧 2022 年，令人欣喜的是，F(xiàn)ESE的投稿數(shù)量首次達到了千篇里程碑。此外，我們共發(fā)表了162篇文章，同比增長了15%；FESE已成功轉為月刊。在此，我們感謝作者、審稿人、編委會、各主辦單位和出版商的信任和支持，大家共同見證了 FESE 的成長。

????????As we reflect to the year of 2022, it is worth highlighting that Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering (FESE) at the first time reached the landmark of thousand submissions. Meanwhile, we published 162 papers, which is a 15% increase. Furthermore, FESE has successfully become a monthly journal. We are grateful for the trust and support from authors, reviewers, editorial board members, sponsors, and publishers to witness the growth of FESE.

????????環(huán)境科學與工程受到全球關注，由此產(chǎn)生了政策、研究和創(chuàng)新方面的積極行動。2022 年，F(xiàn)ESE的Visions欄目攜手最知名學者重點關注了水-資源回用、氮循環(huán)、水生態(tài)風險和碳減排等方面的研究進展和愿景。我們還通過組織?？劢垢嗟娜颦h(huán)境問題，包括微塑料和納米塑料污染、新污染物、碳中和、人工智能/機器學習的應用等。此外，我們致力于更好地為環(huán)境學界服務。我們與北美華人環(huán)境環(huán)境工程和科學教授協(xié)會（CAPEES）一起，喚起學界對國際合作以應對環(huán)境挑戰(zhàn)的贊賞，并表明研究人員對這種合作的渴望。我們組織了多項活動，以促進更廣泛的學術界，特別是年輕學者之間的交流和認可。我們很高興看到 2022 年 FESE 青年論壇和Webinar的成功舉辦，并一同為Young Talent Award獲獎者感到自豪。

????????Environmental Science and Engineering owes public attentions and active actions on policy, research, and innovation globally. In 2022, we highlighted Visions on water-resource recovery, nitrogen cycle, aquatic ecological risk, and carbon reduction from the most reputed scholars. We also spotlighted the global environmental issues by special issues, including microplastic and nanoplastic pollution, emerging contaminants, carbon neutrality, and the application of artificial intelligence/machine learning. Besides, we seek to better serve the environmental research community. Together with the Chinese-American Professors of Environmental Engineering and Science, we attempted to evoke the appreciation of international collaboration for environmental challenges and evinced the aspiration of researchers for such collaboration. We organized several activities to advance communications and recognitions in a broader academic community, especially among the young scholars. We are delighted to witness the success of 2022 FESE Youth Forum and Webinars, and are proud for the excellent winners of the Young Talent Award.

????????地球正面臨嚴重的環(huán)境問題，而目前各項倡議和行動仍遠未實現(xiàn)擬定的目標。這也敦促環(huán)保界進行更多的創(chuàng)新和實踐。FESE將繼續(xù)致力于關注和報道環(huán)境問題和解決方案，發(fā)表前沿研究和工程進展，成為一個有影響力的科學期刊和交流平臺。

????????The planet is facing severe environmental problem while the initiatives and actions are still far from achieving the proposed goals. It urges more innovations and practices from the environmental research and development community. FESE will continue committing to follow and report the environmental issues and solutions, to publish frontiers research and engineering progresses, and to serve as an impactful scientific journal and communication platform.

????????2023 年，F(xiàn)ESE將更加開放、更加積極地對更廣泛的研究方向、更大的科研團體取得的研究和工程進展開展報道。我們將繼續(xù)加強出版物的質量控制，突出全球環(huán)境話題，并為環(huán)境研究與開發(fā)界提供更加專業(yè)的服務。

????????In the year of 2023, FESE will be more open and more active in reporting progresses from a broader research community and interests. We will continue strengthening the quality control of publications, highlighting global environmental topics, and providing expertise services to the environmental research and development community.
