歌詞中的gray no man's land實(shí)際上指一戰(zhàn)塹壕戰(zhàn)中的無(wú)人區(qū)。
So?we move lost through,
The gray no man's land.
Maybe none of us will return
Back in?homeland.

"Oh, my Ukraine!
Cast down and beaten
Her fields lie fallow
Her sons' blood chokes it
Oh, my Ukraine!
Her oppressors strangle it
Those who let this happen
Those who wished it to happen
Cry out as it rips out
Their mother's heart
And spill the blood of their brothers
Oh, my Ukraine!
Cast down and betrayed!"

Look upon your native country,
On this peaceful eden;
Love with overflowing heart
This expanse of ruin

And break your heavy chains
And water with the tyrants' blood
The freedom you have gained.

The Golden Fog
"The vibrant tide sweeps across the valley,
bringing its shroud of silence over the land.
An ocean of clouds, mighty and impenetrable.
A deathly flood, drowning life in its depths.
?
I observe the fog reach its grand finale
as it settles to the bottom and begins to expand.
Its spread is relentless, progress uncontainable.
The growing quiet is the only tally of the deaths.
?
A day ago I saw it, spread across the horizon.
A thin yellow cloud, born on western winds.
With nowhere to run to, I knew I must climb.
And hope that the fog would cling to the ground.
?
Now I find myself stranded as the tide comes in.
I pray to God he shows mercy for my many sins.
As the fog creeps higher I want only more time.
My final pained breaths will be this mountain's last sound.
?
I have lived a happy life.
My only wish is that it does not end this day.
And not in this manner."

沉落至底,四散廣布;

Lament for the Apocalypse
A recovered poem written by Edmund Clarenton, a survivor of the last Great War almost seven centuries ago:
?
Who can claim to have clean hands
Were stamped so freely?
It did not need to be this way, it all
Could have been avoided
If only man possessed wisdom with
His intelligence, then perhaps
We could have seen the error of our ways
Before it became too late.
If we could turn back the clock
Would we even be able to restrain ourselves
From repeating the same mistakes?
Or is it simply in our nature to destroy?
We have been given a second chance,
Let us not waste it.

To A Generation of Destroyers
They have tried to silence us once more,
with the sound of guns, bombs and planes.
They have tried to make this world hope for us;
Make it glow, again, for us.
Only to watch us be crushed
They have offered this peace, with consciousness appeased;
Of satisfied appetites,
Of pleasures doomed and brief.
Of servant at their dinners
And they made me a terrorist,
they named you a thief.
?
Sent us on a voyage through desert and sea
?
Made us die among strangers in another continent
?
And they burned our cities and nailed our fathers to the mast of industry and thus put them to rest
?
Red, with anger;
?
at so much beauty.
They declared themselves the lords of memory,
the lords of progress.
?
And yet, they had to retire and die; locked in their vaults exiled from glory
?
And Paris shall rise again.
Be free!
For this is the city not of space, but of Spirit--
And Spirit is not vulnerable to explosives!
Parisian Regards.

平靜于足以果腹的餐點(diǎn);
平靜于將逝的快樂(lè)和哀傷;
It is 1962, thirtieth year of the Kangde Emperor's reign, long may he serve the Empire?and her people. High above the Changbai's snow-crested peaks is cast a peaceful blue expanse, mottled with feathery white clouds like patterns on royal blue silk: an auspicious sign for the coming year. We are fortunate that, in its infinite wisdom, Heaven saw fit to organize worldly matters in cycles of life and death, decay and regrowth.
