What is the UCAT (UK) and do I need to sit this test?
The UCAT, is an established test (under thehistoric name of UKCAT) predominantly used as an admissions test for UKuniversities. This test has now been adopted by a number of universities inAustralia and New Zealand under the revised test name of UCAT ANZ. Howeverit is identical in it's format and content to the UCAT (UK). Candidatesshould only apply to sit the UCAT (UK) version of the test if they areintending to apply to a relevant course at one of the UCAT Consortium memberuniversities in the UK. Candidates who are applying to both Australian/ NewZealand and UK universities should refer to the information below.
Can I sit the UCAT ANZ if I'm enrolled in Year 11 and taking a Year12 subject?
No. The UCAT ANZ is only available to acandidate whose educational level at the time of sitting the test is that theyare undertaking or have completed their final year of secondary schooling, orhigher. For example, candidates registering for UCAT ANZ 2020 should havecompleted, or plan to complete their final year of secondary schooling in 2020,that is, Year 12 in Australia or Year 13 in New Zealand.

The preparation materials refer to the UCAT, not the UCAT ANZ – isthis a different test?
Although new to Australia and New Zealandfor 2019, the UCAT has been used for over 12 years in the UK (previously underthe test name UKCAT). The preparation materials provided on this site representthe content of the UCAT ANZ test and may be used to familiarise yourself withthe test format and to prepare for the test.
Can I sit both the UCAT ANZ and UCAT UK test?
Candidates are not permitted to sit boththe UCAT ANZ and the UCAT UK test in the same year. In this event only the testresult obtained at the first sitting will be valid.
What if I want to apply to universities in Australia / New Zealandand in the UK?
If you are applying to both Australian/ NewZealand and UK universities for 2021 entry you need to sit the UCAT ANZ duringJuly 2020.
You then need to email the UCAT UK Office(ucat@nottingham.ac.uk) by 15th October 2020 (the UCAS application deadline inthe UK) to confirm the following information:
Your name
Your UCAT ANZ ID number in the formatANZ12345678
Your UCAS PID
The UK universities and courses to whichyou have applied
The UCAT UK Office will then verify yourUCAT ANZ score with the UCAT ANZ Office and communicate this to your chosen UKuniversities. You do not need to sit both the UCAT ANZ and UCAT (UK).

Please note that a UCAT (UK) result is notaccepted by Australian/ New Zealand universities. You are required to sit theUCAT ANZ test so that your results can be delivered to your Australian/NewZealand medical school choices by their admissions deadlines, which are earlierthan the UK
Do international students need to sit the UCAT ANZ?
Only a limited number of UCAT ANZConsortium universities require international students to sit UCAT ANZ and, ifso, it will only be required in specific circumstances. Candidates are advisedto check the UCAT ANZ Consortium university websites for further information.
