The last survivor of the Titanic disaster Millvina Dean has died. She was 97. Helena Wilkinson reports.
At just nine weeks old, Millvina Dean was the youngest Titanic passenger. Her family were emigrating to America when the ship sank in 1912. Miss. Dean was placed in a sack and carried to safety along with her mother and brother. Her father Bertram died in the tragedy, one of more than 1,500 people who lost their lives. In October last year after struggling to pay for her private nursing home care, she sold some of her mementos.?

Several American banks which were bailed out by taxpayers' money have issued shares in an attempt to extricate themselves from government oversight. The banks, including Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase and Morgan Stanly raised nearly 8 billion dollars of capital today, so that they can repay loans made under the Treasury Department's "Troubled Asset Relief Program" or "TARP".

President Barack Obama says the course of history was changed by the bravery of allied forces on D-Day?in northern France 65 years ago today. President Obama said so much of the progress that defined the 20th century came down to the battle for a small slice of beach in Normandy. The landings paved the way for the allied victory over Nazi Germany. President Obama said the bravery of the men who fought on the Normandy beaches was an inspiration to everyone today.

Michael Jackson's family have issued a statement scotching the widespread rumors about the pop star's funeral. And in another move, Michael Jackson's will has been filed in a Los Angles court showing that he nominated his mother Catherin Jackson as legal guardian to his children in the event of his death. Peter Bowes reports from Los Angeles.
The Jackson family's statement says contrary to previous news reports, there will be no public or private viewing in Neverland. Instead, the statement says plans are under way regarding a public memorial service for Michael Jackson. The family says details will be released shortly. The last few days has seen more rumor and speculation regarding the singer's final resting place than hard facts. The family says it's now hired a public relations company to speak on its behalf. The American space shuttle Endeavor is due to launch shortly after being delayed three times. The latest postponement came on Saturday when Endeavor was hit several times by lightening. From Florida, Andy Gallagher has the details.
If?the crew get off the ground this time, they will be delivering the final part of the Japanese laboratory known as "Kibo". During the planned 16-day mission, the astronauts will also be building a platform in space so that experiments can be carried out in a vacuum. In all five spacewalks planned in the International Space Station will be at its most crowded. The seven astronauts will join six crew members already on board.
