希望各位給我點意見?? “Follow me Jack. I’ll show you some magic!” Resignedly, he watched her putting her small hands together, and gracefully closed her eyes. A distinct magical power surrounded her within a minute - warm and cozy. In between those cumulonimbus clouds, there came a sudden strip of vibrant light blazing onto the puddles of water, casting the reflection of a dried girl… “Global climate change is inevitable. Rain will continue for the entire week. Here we urge residents living in low areas to expedite moving to high areas, flooding wouldn’t end…” Jack switched off the television, while carrying a bucket of wet clothes. All around the room, he hanged his pants, his sister’s dress and more. Within these two days, if none of them were dried, both he and his sister would have been naked. “Time to prepare breakfast for Mandy and lunch for mom, then I have to go to work…” His mumble stopped as he exhaustively massaged his eyes. He was unemployed, it just slipped his mind. Well, no one needs a car-wash on rainy days. Thinking of the huge medical expenses of his parents and the scanty few bank savings, reality slapped this 18-year-old boy hard indeed. Not noticing the approach of a hidden silhouette, he was hauled with a strong grasp. “Follow me!” Without realizing it, both of them emerged in the downpour. Rain drops ‘welcomed’ their arrival by relentlessly patting them, first their head, then shoulder, finally the whole body. In the end, they were completely drenched. “Mandy! What’s wrong with you? Do you know I’m overwhelmed by laundry these days?” Jack grumbled annoyedly at his naughty sister while twisting his top, forcing out the water on it. Soon enough, water was restored onto it. He took a deep breath, calming himself down. Mom’s health, dad’s car accident, life expenses, and his unemployment, misfortunes just came one by one endlessly. Ever since the rain started the month before, everything just keeps going wrong like bugs in the computer. Mom’s asthma deteriorated due to the moisture in the air. Dad had a severe car accident due to the slippery road. When both parents were needing to burn up savings, Jack was unemployed. A scorching anxiety stuck in his stomach. Frustratedly, he yelled unreservedly, “This damn rain never stopped! It’s been a month! Mom is in an awful condition, dad is still lying in bed and I am fired. Now, all I want is to dry up our clothes, but Mandy, you’re adding more work for me. Is this fun?” Mandy swiftly loosen his hand, nervously rubbing her hand in the downpour. On Jack’s face were wrinkles that revealed his anger at that moment. She trembled and lowered her head ruefully like a wronged golden retriever. By then, Jack just realized his gaffe. “Sorry, I lost my cool.” He apologized sincerely. Ultimately, Mandy was still a 12-year-old child. What’s the point of yelling at such a naive child? All she wants is just happiness. “Everything will get better for us!” She grinned, showing her mischievous pair of sharpened canines, then took courage to whisper in her brother’s ear, “Believe or not, but I am the fairy that can stop the rain!” Jack signed, “Really? Show me, little fairy.” He pampered her as usual. Such an idealist, he thought, maybe that’s how children are like. She held her hands together, tightly, as she shut her eyes. Her lips touched, faithfully said some prayers that were receded by the repeatedly tapping of the unceasing rain. Jack forced a bitter smile. Their mother is a devout prayer too, praying days and nights for a better life for the family. Still, the family was shuttered by the accidents and sickness. If prayers really work, no man would ever suffer. Jack believes: Miracle would only happen in storybooks, reality is brutal. Misfortune was like superglue and he had no way to get rid of it. But this time, God once again made a joke on him. Nothing could have prepared him for what he saw. A peculiar gleaming light wrapped Mandy up. Her soaked clothes miraculously dried up in that second. An odd wind followed the light to wipe out the cumulonimbus. Water droplet subsided right in front of him - in the middle of action, then gathered one by one in an orderly manner back into the sky. In his next blink of his eyes, the long-last sun returned with its familiar reddish-yellow coat.? Mandy dashed to Jack cheerfully. She enjoyed the stunned look on Jack’s face. “It’s astonishing right?” Jack unbelievably reached out his hand. The long absence of warmth from the sun caressed his palm - so unreal, like a dream. His tears rolled down his cheeks, not knowing whether it was the tear of grievance or joy. He dotingly embraced his little sister. Those misfortunes he had gone through made him particularly cherish any little happiness in his life. “Thank you, Mandy.” Mandy smiled shyly in Jack’s warm hug, as she cautiously dragged her long sleeves, hiding the translucent arms that were slowly fading under them…
