Well, history had never been my favorite subject. But recently a documentary called Cunk on Britain sparked my interest. More precisely, the series is a mockumentary, or a satire?of the more serious British documentaries. In the show, a seemingly dumb?reporter asks a bunch of historians?the most random and silly questions?for comic effect. It’s incredibly entertaining.

In a particular episode about the Tudors, Henry VIII?was described as having a“wife addiction”?, which had me splitting my sides laughing. However, the show only scratched the surface of?this historical period. So that’s why it has left me with so many questions.

What I already know about the period is that Henry VIII is one of the monarchs?in the Tudor era?which is somewhere around?the 16th century. He is best known for?having six wives one after the other. And from what I remember, there is a mnemonic?saying “beheaded, divorced, survived...”?the rest eludes?me. But what I don’t know is which happened to whom.

So that’s why I’m eager to learn more about?the six wives, their personalities and what kind of lives they had. And most importantly, what particular events led to?their tragic fate? Who was the lucky one that survived and thrived?

Another thing I’d like to know more about is the political impact on England?when the king broke away from the Catholic Church?in an attempt to?divorce one of his wives.

It also got me wondering?if modern psychology can shed some light on?the king’s short-lived marriages?and why he was so horrible to?his spouses.

So hopefully when I get the time, I’ll take a?bit?of a?deeper?dive?into?the Tudor’s to become better informed?about the topic.
