1.Air combat or entanglement means that in an air battle with machine guns or machine guns as the main weapons, both opposing fighters try to enter the tail area of the other side to aim and shoot. This process is like two dogs playing, chasing each other and biting each other‘s tails, so it is also literally translated as a dogfight(狗斗). Dogfight is the main form of air combat in World War I and World War II, when missiles have not yet appeared, and it is still used in actual combat.Generally, there will be super intensity maneuvers(機(jī)動(dòng)) during dogfighting, which is a great test for fighters and pilots.

2.There are two basic standards to measure a fighter‘s combat performance: stable circling angular velocity(穩(wěn)定盤旋角速度) and turning radius(轉(zhuǎn)彎半徑). I think everyone is familiar with the definition of angular velocity(角速度). Then, it can be imagined that the stable circling angular velocity refers to the rate at which a fighter changes the nose pointing angle when it is in a stable circling(穩(wěn)定盤旋,也就是軍迷常說的穩(wěn)盤) maneuver. For example, if a fighter needs 20 seconds to make a stable circling circle, so the stable circling angular speed of the fighter is 18°/s. According to the aerodynamic characteristics(氣動(dòng)特性) of the fighter, scientific researchers can calculate the best stable circling airspeed(最佳穩(wěn)定盤旋空速) of each fighter. At this speed, the stable circling angular velocity of the fighter is the largest and the speed of completing one loop is the shortest.
The turning radius refers to the radius of the circle formed by a fighter after completing a circle of stable circling. Generally speaking, the smaller the speed of a fighter is, the smaller the turning radius is. Therefore, the fighter can quickly decelerate at the expense of speed to reduce the turning radius, but this process is unsustainable. It is a process opposite to stable circling, called instantaneous circling(瞬間盤旋,也就是軍迷常說的瞬盤).

3.Single loop refers to two fighters meet head-on and fly in the same direction after meeting. In this case, if the performance and operation of the two aircraft are exactly the same, they will meet after turning 180 degrees, forming a closed loop, called a single loop. At this time, the relative speed is large and it is difficult to aim.
If the turning radius of an fighter is smaller than that of another fighter, the aircraft will take the lead in pointing its nose at the other side. At this time, the fighter can try to fire guns or circle to the rear of the enemy aircraft again with the advantage of small radius to carry out gun attacks. Obviously, such a sharp turn with a small radius will consume a lot of speed, so if your plane’s engine thrust is not high and the speed loss cannot be made up in time, or if the enemy plane is not shot down, your plane will be in an extremely unfavorable position in the subsequent air battle.
In a word, the single loop is a battle of turning radius and pilot’s courage. Is your turning radius small enough? Are you brave enough to fire after you finish pointing the nose? Can you hit the enemy aircraft with one shot? This requires the pilot to weigh in.

4.After the two fighters meet, if they fly in different directions, they have to turn 360 degrees to meet again, forming two independent rings, called double loops for short.
If a fighter's stable circling angular velocity is dominant, it can complete a circle before the enemy fighter completes a circle, and point its nose at the enemy fighter, and then it can fire the gun.
In many cases, the difference between the stable circling angular velocities of the two fighters is not too obvious, it often takes many turns to make a relatively obvious difference. Therefore, the double loop is a battle to compete for stable circling angular velocity and patience. Is your steady circling angular velocity high enough? How do you maintain your best stable circling airspeed? Do you have enough patience to wait for the moment when the other fighter makes a mistake? This also requires the pilot to weigh in.
?
5.According to a fighter’s aerodynamic characteristics, one fighter may fit in single loop or double loop.If your aircraft has a small turning radius, but the stable circling angular velocity is not high enough, you will try your best to deceive(誘使,欺騙) the enemy aircraft into a single loop; If your aircraft has a high stable circling angular velocity and a large turning radius, then you will force the enemy aircraft to play a double loop with you. In short, you will attack the other's shortcomings with your own strengths.
Real air combat is much more complicated. For example, a fighter with a large thrust weight ratio(推重比) will perform vertical maneuvers to lock the opponent first.
