月世界屬的花很小，可以自花結(jié)果，喜陽(yáng)光，同時(shí)也比較耐寒，可以忍受-12度，但是必須保持干燥，水多容易爛。

Epithelantha通常生長(zhǎng)在石灰或玄武巖、砂礫或巖石的裂縫里，也與其他仙人掌和多肉植物生長(zhǎng)在植被多刺的灌木或樹(shù)蔭下，分布在海拔300米 (Epithelantha?ilariae)到2300米(Epithelantha?pachyrhiza)的區(qū)域。

月世界（Epithelantha micromeris）和小人帽（Epithelantha bokei）是月世界屬最常見(jiàn)的仙人球，雖然兩者的樣貌極為相似，但是價(jià)格卻是差了十萬(wàn)八千里。

在園藝養(yǎng)殖中，月世界屬的植物在絕大多數(shù)愛(ài)好者的手中都被養(yǎng)的白白胖胖的，要水有水，要肥有肥，但是在原產(chǎn)地中這種圓潤(rùn)的形態(tài)是極其少見(jiàn)的。

月世界屬最亮麗的是它的刺，棱很多，形成很多乳突狀疣，形成規(guī)則的螺旋形，刺白色，20－45根，有的刺座帶毛。
