For over seventy years, the Dead Sea Scrolls have been at the center of scholarly discussions, especially given?their?importance?for understanding the development and transmission of the text of the Hebrew Bible. This lecture will compare the Qumran biblical scrolls and other textual witnesses (Masoretic Text, Samaritan Pentateuch, Septuagint) in order to identify what they have in common and what is unique, so as to better understand the textual variety in Antiquity. In addition, this lecture will analyse compositions that rewrite the biblical text, such as the?Genesis Apocryphon,?Jubilees, and the?Temple Scroll?in order to identify the characteristics of these different works and their authoritative status in Antiquity.?
