The lizard was doing its monthly shopping. No on a serious note luckily nobody was badly injured or killed by it.

Bangkok is over run by Asian monitor lizards. While I was having breakfast one day I found out why. During heavy rains they get washed down-stream of the Chao Phraya river, often hitching a lift on floating water weed. I counted seven juveniles climbing out the river off water hyacinth plants, they immediately ran into the hotel gardens and hid. One had started eating scraps from under tables already. Happy as a lark it took a slice of toast and butter from my fingers then dashed for cover. They're very intelligent and as hatchlings rather personable too, little thinking calculating dinosaurs with tons of character.

Was in a park in Bangkok a couple of years ago, one of these walked towards us at the edge of a large lake,
It was so weird, we’re more used to dogs coming over to say hello, safe to say we moved away a bit sharpish

Most disturbing is it doesn't have a mask on. Security should firmly ask it to leave;)

I used to live in the Philippines and one of these dragon things would often come in to our garden. It was at least six feet long and very fierce to look at. But would move like lightning. Not sure if it was dangerous or not but wouldn't want to argue with it.

I imagine this is quite common if you live there,..my friend lives in Australia, and sees Kangeroos hopping about everywhere, like they own the place , although he's not keen on the native spiders.
