More and more people use social media to keep in touch with people, news and events.

Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages？

Social media has gained increasing popularity among people.

In terms of this situation, I am in two minds.

I agree with the benefits of this new technology while potential risks cannot be ignored.

There are some major favors of social media.

1One is it dramatically facilitate communication efficiency.

2As people can use Facebook ,Twitter or similar applications to contact their friends and expand their social network, friendship can be maintained and developed even though they are not in the same place.

3And this convenience is unthinkable in the past before the internet was invented.

4Also, social media is multi functional and entertaining.

5Take Tiktok, which is a stress reliver and goods provider to illustrate.

6People can follow live streaming or various vlogs , and at the same time they can purchase goods when watching.

7As a result ,Tiktok has been booming in downloads and users are flocking to this application.

Given the benefits, there are some threats.

1It is hardly surprising to see that young people have been addicted into this virtual world where they can do almost everything ,such as making friends, playing computer games, watching movies and such, therefore they tend to ignore the physical interaction where true friendship is generated

2This explains why the number of people who feel isolated is increasing.

3虛擬 ?If the real connection between human beings was cut off by social media, human beings would be likely to suffer from some mental problem ,such as depression.

4Also, social media is bombarded with advertisements which attempt to drown people into consumerism trap.

5Specifically ,people are easily victimized by their by their overwhelming intrusion and find it difficult to navigate .

6Those who are susceptible usually end up buying things that eventually turn out to be unnecessary.

In summary , both pros and cons are unequivocally presented .

What it boils down to is as consumers ,we should maximize its benefits and marginalize its negatives.
