Tame Impala’s music is often pegged as brain-melting sonic exploration, but mastermind Kevin Parker also has a pop star’s understanding of emotion. Stripped down to melody and lyrics, “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards,” from 2012’s?Lonerism, is a crushing meditation on dashed hopes and rejection.
