《記述的裝飾（Zayn al-akhbar）》，是11世紀(jì)波斯史家加爾迪齊（Abu Said 'Abd al-Hayy ibn Zahhak Gardizi）的代表著作。對(duì)于加爾迪齊的事跡所知甚少，僅知其出生在扎明達(dá)瓦（Zamindawar）地區(qū)的加爾迪茲，當(dāng)時(shí)歸屬伽色尼王朝。加爾迪齊在馬哈茂德時(shí)期開始活躍，并在1050年前后寫成此書。該書記載了自伊歷423年（1032）以前的伊斯蘭歷史，特別是中亞史；以及記述伽色尼王朝一直到馬蘇德死后（1041）。其書短小精悍，態(tài)度客觀（甚至被評(píng)價(jià)為‘冷漠’），補(bǔ)充了大量有關(guān)薩曼王朝、印度、突厥、河中地區(qū)與呼羅珊地區(qū)的歷史細(xì)節(jié)，而記載伽色尼王朝的歷史大多是親身經(jīng)歷或所見，因此史料價(jià)值極高，歷受推崇。原本為波斯文，不過并沒有流傳下來，只有時(shí)間較晚的兩份抄本存世。巴托爾德在寫《蒙古入侵時(shí)期的突厥斯坦》時(shí)首次利用該書，并摘錄其中章節(jié)編入《原文史料選輯》。國內(nèi)學(xué)者王小甫與華濤曾將這份摘錄中關(guān)于中國的部分翻譯成中文；2011年，還是老朋友博斯沃思（C. E.Bosworth）將《記述的裝飾》關(guān)于呼羅珊歷史的第十章-第十三章的內(nèi)容譯為英文，書名為《THE ORNAMENT OF HISTORIES:A History of the Eastern Islamic Lands ad 650-1041,The Original Text of Abu Said 'Abd al-Hayy Gardizi》。
