筆記(英語+化學(xué))(B23032301 )
P4- P84 8h+8h 3.30
P1 片頭曲:元素周期表 Periodic Table
P2 1: Introduction to Chemistry
單詞:operate, nutritious, fundamentally, glaring, contradiction, avenue, politic, otherwise, series, tutorial, supplement, prior, gear, predictive, legitimacy, comprehension, plenty,
筆記:Chemistry is the study of what matter is made of and how it changes.
P3 2: Types of Matter, Elements, Compounds, and Mixtures
單詞: occupy, phase, mold, container, fluidly, seldom, composition, substance, arrange, generate, combine, fashion, comprehension, dew, condense, pipe, rust, chop, firewood, ferment
筆記:
1.
We will commonly divide matter into three phases: solid, liquid, and gas.
Solid:
fixed shape and volume
the particles are touching, do not move.
Liquid:
fixed volume, no fixed shape(it will mold to its container)
the particles are touching, do move fluidly
Gas:
no fixed shape or volume (it will completely fill its container)
the particles are far apart moving freely and seldom touch
2.
Physical change:
The chemical composition of the substance is unchanged.
Things like a substance changing from one phase to another are always physical changes.
ex. ice melts: water is going from the solid phase to the liquid phase, the way the water molecules are arranged changes but they are still water molecules.
Chemical change:
The chemical composition of the substance does change.
Chemical bonds between atoms must break and form to generate completely new substances.
ex. Hydrogen gas and oxygen gas combine to form water. (new bonds, new substance)
3.

A pure substance is one that can't be separated into other materials by any physical process.

P4 3: Measurement and Significant Figures
單詞:measurement, correlate, motion, arbitrary, participate, limitation, estimate, precise, device, digit, inherent, instrument,
筆記:
1.
Rules for Determining the Number of Sig Figs:
1) Non-zero digits are significant. ex. 316 = 3 sig figs
2) Zeros in between other digits are significant. ex. 6.003 = 4 sig figs
3) Leading zeros are not significant. ex. 0.00035 = 2 sig figs
4) Trailing decimal zeros are significant. ex. 0.035000 = 5 sig figs (35,000 = 2 sig figs)
2.
Rules for Calculating with Sig Figs:
1) When adding or subtracting, use the fewest number of decimal places. ex. 10.1 + 7.43 = 17.5
2) When multiplying or dividing, use the fewest number of sig figs. ex. 4.93 × 6.027 = 29.7
3) Round up or down the answer. Example: Rounding to 3 sig figs. 9.365 =>9.37
Check comprehension: 1) 4 2) 3 3) 6 4) 2 1) 3.13 2) 20.7 3) 42 4) 4.36
P5 4: Scientific Notation and Dimensional Analysis
單詞:civilization, the next factor, digit, tedious, abbreviate, consist
筆記:
We need a way to abbreviate very large and very small numbers. That way is called scientific notation.
