Sunday 12th February 2023
It's early Sunday evening.I'm sat at the dining table with a cup of tea.The shipping forecast is being read out on the radio. My fireplace is lit,and the curtains are drawn.I've made myself a real nest. But what else is there to do? It's the day after The Brit awards and I'm hungover.Let me hide away.
I love pop music and I love pop culture; I love it, in part, because I don't understand it. I love it, watching on from the side-lines.Ilove its uncertainty and I love its confidence. I love connecting the dots of what inspired what, who inspired who.I 1ove it,1 realy ao.And for all of these reasons, to be sat in the O2, with the pantomime of pop music playing out around me in real time, was a beautiful thing.A big thank you to the Brits, for having me along.
I don't know what more I can tell you about the awards. I observed everything going on around me, like a fly on the wall, excited, confused and in awe. I ate the food, I drank the wine, I hugged people that I haven't seen in a long time, I sang along to Harry Styles,Wet Leg, Sam Capaldi and Sam Smith. I got in a car, I headed home.I had a good night.
We'd spent Friday and Saturday in a rehearsal studio in North London.Running through the set for our upcoming European tour. The first run through on Friday was quite clunky, but by run-through's 4 and 5 I was in the zone, grinning, in my element, excited for the weeks to come.
(It's now Wednesday 15th) We're in Hamburg and I'm watching Passenger soundcheck!
We made it, we're here.We landed on Monday evening and had a big production rehearsal yesterday in the venue. The hotel we're staying in is out of town which has meant taxi's back and forth from the city centre for food and mooching. One plus of being out of town though is that we're directly opposite a huge park and forest with a seemingly never-ending network of footpaths running through it. We've started each day with a run, this morning the fog was thick, and the air was cold which gave the forest a fairy-tale quality. By the time we got back the sky was clearing and it's now another brilliant blue-sky day.One taxi driver told us that it had been grey in Hamburg for weeks now and that we must have brought the sunshine with us,made me smile.
Wow!! I just saw that there is a stall in the corner of tonight's venue selling big pretzels! I've not seen that before.Germany is great.

Su'mae George,
Hope you're doing well.
This letter arrives to you from wales.
It's my favourite place (highly recommend it) and Spring is really starting to show its face around here. I feel like I'm starting to see korembi everywhere now. There's so many daffodils and it makes all the difference when the sun hangs around for just that little bit longer in the afternoon. I can't wait for the days to be warmer. I think it puts everyone in a good mood and it shows the world in a new light. It brings hope, and if we have hope, what more could we ask for?
I currently have Manila and Dance All Over Me (Strings) on repeat to start off my mornings?
Hope you're doing well and hope you have a great week.
